Very nice
Finkiedinkon 06/08/2017 17:37Nice hotel directly on the lakeside and within a few hundred yards from the old town. Staff could not be more friendly and helpful, all of them. Nice touch nespresso machine in the room and some exquisite mini cup cakes.
Great cocktails at the bar outside, but a lot of white stains on the sofas. I'm sure they were from the seagulls (yes seagulls) flying around. This of course can happen but a 5 star hotel should make sure this is checked and cleaned every day.
The only reason l gave 4 and not 5 stars was that we paid 15 francs to watch a movie on the pay channel and it didn't work. A member of staff came up to our room to try to get it going, but to no avail. Of course the 15 francs was immediately removed from our bill, but we had an early start the next day and went to our room early and really wanted to watch a movie before sleeping and the only English tv available was news channels.
Enjoyed sitting outside by the lake the next morning for breakfast and we could order great poached eggs.
Would definitely return here though if we were in the area.
opinion of the Beau Rivage
677nicholasjon 15/05/2017 11:21The hotel rooms are excellent and the service and reception first class. The restaurant leaves much to be desired, Despite a splendid view of the lake the food is very disappointing as is the service. I left ma main course untouched and the waiter removed the plate without a question. The fish was not fresh, the meat overcooked and the ice cream had melted and been refrozen. Not to be recommended
What you see (and pay) is what you get
David Won 29/04/2017 14:52This is a top notch hotel with a corresponding price.
So is it worth it?
In essence and substance, yes.
To start the hotel has exceptionally well prepared and groomed staff. My room (No.309) was very spacious, so much so that I did my morning stretching exercises here rather than in the fitness room. The room also had a separate room that acted as a wardrobe and a place to store your luggage...nice touch.
The bed and pillows were super comfortable and the air conditioning non invasive both acoustically and in terms of well being.
There were also other neat and well accepted features such as:
+ A chocolate placed on my pillow every day and also delivered by hand in the evening, with a gentle knock on the door and a big smile!
+ A pair of binoculars next to the bed so you could scout the lake from the windows;
+ A postcard provided everyday to indicate the next days weather and temperature;
+ For the ladies (but also for us men) all the soaps, lotions and shampoos were by Bulgari and of really good quality..so not just the name;
+ Super efficient and fast wi-fi...an absolute must for me;
+ A small kettle and an espresso machine with good quality tea and capsules;
+ The crockery was made in UAE and of very good quality;
+ Bath and face towels were super soft;
+ The shower was large and amaingly the bath was super long...this is very useful when you are more 6feet talllike me;
+ Flooring and walls were tiled in Carrara style marble that gives that warm and sparkling effect;
+ Lighting was adequate and again none invasive to the point that ether couldn't read in bed or do work on the writing table;
+ The fitness room was adequate and actually quite spacious;
+ There is a postcard that suggests running courses from 2 to about 10km..and they also provide you with a towel as yo return from your jog...nice feature!!!;
+ The TV was a large Samsung (probably about 41inches (but not sure);
+ My room was super sound proof in spite of the fact that I was facing also the lifts!
+ Buffet breakfast was of high quality but no toaster was provided;
+ Table service at breakfast was super efficient and managed well by the staff;
+ Car parking is available directly under and in front of the hotel;
+ A large umbrella is provided in the room and extra ones are available at the reception...they also accompany you in and out of the hotel if it is raining;
+ A 3 day bus/tram pass was provided to all guests and organised in seconds;
+ Help was always on hand to suggest places to visit and where to eat;
+ Fresh fruit (apples) and water are provided free of charge;
+ If the weather had been better breakfast outide would have made an even better start to the day.
So what about potential improvements or drawbacks?:
- Breakfast is not included in the price and costs about 36CHF extra, that said if you eat outside it will cost much more and I suspect not of the same standard!
- My room had two large torso-height positioned windows but no balcony. However, this turned out to be an advantage because my visit coincided with the hatching of lake flies (end of April to mid May). Moreover, this point was clearly stated in a specific sheet left by the staff on my writing desk...i.e. you are warned not open the windows in advance...well done BTW;
- Fitness centres in hotels are always an issue and here I would consider upgrading the machines to a modern and upper brand like Tecnogym...maybe the layout could be improved as well to create more space and possibly add more machines e.g. a treadmill;
- There was no sauna or turkish bath...or at least I didn't see any (also there is no swimming pool....the lake is suggested);
- The bar was well managed and organised and not over priced but when you have large groups (more than 10/12 people) space becomes an issue and needs better management. That said the bar staff went really out of their way to group us all together;
- Although I liked the massage and Spa offerings, in my opinion the price was way too high...although I would imagine to what you pay elsewhere in the area;
- I honestly expected a bit more official tourist info such as brochures and leaflets....I'm sure this can beefed up and tackled with relative ease;
- Decor wise I am in two minds because it is a mix of Swiss modern and Art-decor style...that said the gallery pictures on the hotels website perfectly reflect this..hence what you see (and pay) is what you get.
Would I suggest this hotel absolutely!!!!!!!...if you visit Neuchatel, and have the finances, then treat yourself to this experience.
Thank you all at Beau-Rivage and keep-up the exceptional standards!!

Beautiful Setting and Attentive Staff
RayNJ08on 12/04/2017 14:17Recent stay on business at the Beau-Rivage and I could not have been happier. The room was impeccable and the bathroom luxurious. I was given room 206 which was large and convenient to the elevator. At first, I was worried this would be noisy, but the elevator had no bells or noise when opening up, which I must admit was a first for me. All hotels should ensure that's the case! One cannot beat the beautiful location on Lake Neuchatel. I particularly loved the morning breakfast overlooking the lake as the sun was rising. The hotel is within walking distance of all the town has to offer and is close enough to the train which made traveling from either Zurich or Geneva airport easy. If traveling in on a Sunday, please note that the hotel restaurant does not serve food during certain time periods, so we had to venture out and find someplace in town for lunch, which was a problem because many restaurants are closed on Sunday.
