Charming B&B
mykaelagon 02/08/2017 18:03Enjoyed our stay in this charming b & b, Luca was very helpful, he served a simple but lovely fresh breakfast and went out of his way to ensure his guests were all catered for, breakfast was enjoyed by all. The rooms were well airconditioned and this made for a comfortable nights sleep. Nothing was to much trouble, would stay here again.
Little Gem in the back streets of Venice
Vanker1on 05/07/2017 20:02Went with the whole family of fussy eaters and we had a different meals and all were fantastic. We had the tagliatelle wild boar, Beef Fillet with bacon, Calamari fritti, Lamb Cutlets and of course a Spaghetti Bolognaise. No faults to any dish. The service matched the food. Our waiter was helpful, spoke English and was polite. Even made us laugh. Food came out in a timely manner.
Dessert was great as well. We had the creme brûlée, a marscapone dessert and a Limone sorbet.
If ever in Venice, a must try. Not one of the cheaper Osteria's but worth it.
Fantastic location and great host!
Morgannanon 25/06/2017 21:09If you'd like to get the impersonal and extremely touristy experience that thousands of other visitors get visiting Venice, then this is definitely not the B&B for you. If, however, you'd like to be in a B&B hidden 5-minutes away from the Rialto bridge and start your mornings with fun chats and coffee with the hotel's host, Luca, then this place would be ideal for you. The breakfasts are typical local style - sweet jams, fruit, and breads - and the conversations with Luca in the morning are interesting; if you'd like to know anything about local Venetian life, current affairs in Italy, where to eat and visit (and where to avoid), he is your guy! The hospitality alone is worth coming back.
As for the room, they are of decent size and, for a B&B, I think Barababao is really great. Remember, this is a B&B not a four or five-star hotel, so you have to think of staying here as the same as staying at an Airbnb. There is hand soap and towels, etc. but you'll have to get your own shamppo etc. from the grocer or pharmacy that are 5-min walk away.
With all of this in mind, this place has really good wifi, air conditioning, clean and well-kept rooms, and gives you a more local "I'm living in Venice" experience. The B&B also has an exceptionally central location - easy to get to the Rialto waterbus stop and the F. Nove waterbus stop direct to the airport (my flight landed late and I had to walk from F. Nove stop to Barababao by myself... at 12:30am... and I found it just fine! Got there in 10minutes using Google Maps, no problem.)
Overall, for the warm hospitality and great conversations, the great wifi, and amazing location, I give B&B Barababao a 5 rating. :)
Excellent location, clean rooms, gets it done!
HBI2014on 23/06/2017 22:44Excellent location about 5 minutes walk from the Rialto bridge (and vaperetto stop). Rooms are basic but clean and comfortable, and adequate for a two night stay. Due to schedules, we were unable to eat breakfast at the B&B so can't comment on it. However, Luca arranged for us to have breakfast at a cafe across the street, which we thought was a nice accommodation. Luca is extremely communicative, and tries to help wherever he can. A prior commitment with family, and then illness, prevented him from meeting us during our stay, but he was regularly in contact (via whatsapp). A little bit of "road noise" from the street and restaurant below. Note, this B&B isn't connected with the osteria of the same name below it. Overall, a good experience!
Lots of positives and a few downsides!
mstimpon 24/02/2017 00:10Stayed here for 3 nights recently. The location is brilliant and the price is very reasonable. The room itself is basic but a good size and comfy bed. Breakfast was nice in the mornings. Unfortunately there was regularly a strong smell of cigarette smoke within the accommodation and this seeped into our room and was really strong smelling. If it wasn't for this I would give 4 stars. Hopefully they can enforce the non smoking rule more forcefully to ensure other guests don't have to experience it.
