What People are saying

Too noisy-nothing special

evaggelion 21/11/2014 19:56

+ It is close to Cipro metro station (2 min walk) and close to the Vatican
+ The bedroom and the bathrooms were clean and beautifully decorated
- The wifi is weak in some bedrooms
- The breakfast is nothing special but ok
- The staff was friendly but not the owner
- The biggest problem was that 2 of the bedrooms have windows that face the main road and in the night even with closed windows you can hear the noise and you can't sleep at all.

Avoid!

Poor location. Poor reception. I was asked to pay before I was even shown my room! The so called buffet breakfast, a sad and miserable affair, is laid out in the hall with only a single place to sit!
A thoroughly miserable experience and one which will not be repeated.

look elsewhere first

I haven't done my research on the prices around Rome but I suspect there are better value options.

First the good points:

The location was very good, the room was big and the place was clean. The WiFi was decent, if a bit up and down. If that ticks your boxes then this probably go ahead.

However:
Breakfast was a joke, pre-packed cakes that looked like they had seen better days, cornflakes from a dispenser and a thermos of coffee. The shower was like being in a vertical coffin).

The guy running the place wasn't overly forthcoming with local advice and told us we'd have to pay extra if we wanted the aircon (to be fair, air-con wasn't included in the price but it felt like haggling in a market if we wanted it switched on, starting at 10 Euros per night).

Even though we were out for most of the day (as most tourists are) the times we were in we felt like an awkward guest in someone's house, not a paying guest. For these reasons I wouldn't recommend.

Good bed and breakfast with friendly staff.

First thing is to get the location on paper first as it was a little bit hard to find as there isn't a huge sign that says bed and breakfast gioia romana or atleast when we went there.

Get off at Cipro station from the train.

The location isn't super central and you will have to go on it to go anywhere in Rome. I didn't mind this as it was nice to go back to our little bed and breakfast at the end or a hard days journey.

We found the owners to be very friendly and accomodating.- we ended up having a bathroom in our room which was a bonus and am unsure if all bedrooms have this.

The rooms were clean and the neighborhood is quiet at night.

I would recommend you make sure your dirty towels are noticeable and on the ground as we had one time they didnt replace the towels however this could've just been an honest mistake. The breakfast supplied is decent - croissants, toast, juice and coffee.

I would recommend this place for a price saver and budget travellers who don't mind a little bit of traveling in room.

If you wish to be more central I would recommend searching for places a bit closer to attractions you wish to see.

Great place! I definitely recommend it!

Great location, very near to the Vatican Museum, about 10 minutes on foot. We traveled in February and the room was warm, clean and very spacious. Also the bathroom, although it was shared with two other rooms, was very clean. The bed was large and comfortable. The room also had a table and a couch, a TV and a big wardrobe. The room was well lit. Breakfast was a bit too basic, but alright as a short snack to start your day on. There aren`t many supermarkes nearby and the ones that are have a short working hours. During the night we could hear noise from the cars. There are many local restaurants situated near the hotel so we could enjoy an authentic italian evening. I would definitely recommend this place!
