What People are saying
Excellent
dchutchinson8on 06/08/2017 10:09I've stayed in many 5 star hotels, but never had service as good as here. Wonderful people and as helpful as can be. Rooms are very clean and have balconies, but with a place as beautiful as this you shouldn't be in them.
Amalfi great and plenty of near places to explore.
Memorable week made all the more so by Salvatore and his parents
AngieandRichardSon 03/07/2017 23:03Despite its wonderful reviews this B&B in the heart of the Amalfi Coast exceeded all our expectations. From the moment we first spoke to Salvatore to book transport from Naples (much recommended) to sadly saying goodbye at the end of our stay his family's hospitality couldn't have been bettered.
Il Pavone is set on the Via Panoramica roughly halfway between Amalfi and Positano in the quaint town of Conca Dei Marini that makes it an ideal base to tour the coastline using buses and boats which Salvatore will gladly recommend and help you with organising.
The B&B for a resident is effectively on three levels. At the first level you will find the bedrooms with each room having its own balcony to sit on and soak up the Amalfi ambience, but uniquely decorated and serviced daily to the highest standards. The second level is the "dining" area or rather covered terrace decorated in beautiful Mediterranean style that again affords further amazing views and of course breakfast (more on that to come). Then finally on the third level (and probably for us the surprise package as we had read about the food and hospitality) is the garden terrace where you can sit in complete solitude and soak up the sunshine and enjoy your break from the 21st century in tranquility.
So then onto the much praised breakfast, which is simply beyond compare for such a B&B establishment. A daily assortment of juice, breads, cakes, fruit, meats, cheese, savouries, yoghurts and spreads are laid out personally on your table whilst Salvatore, his Mum or his Dad are fuelling you with tea and excellent coffee and even offering you an omelette if you had any further room left!!
The Amalfi Coast is a mix of rustic charm and tranquility with the occasional splash of opulence displayed by the 5 star hotels that are dotted around. However for us to take the opportunity to enjoy the hospitality of such a lovely Italian family it increased that charm that you might miss in a luxury establishment for which one night might cost you the same as the week with Salvatore. Therefore Il Pavone is the perfect property to enjoy a genuine Amalfi experience, we for one will not hesitate to return and we can only thoroughly recommend it to anyone considering the area for a vacation.
Can't ask for more
DrammenDrammenon 26/06/2017 14:15Stayed at Il Pavone for 5 nights - from the moment we arrived til we left everything was just perfect; very welcoming host, beautiful room/view, and the best breakfast ever.
The owner gave us a lot of tips what to do in the area, arranged boat trip to Capri, drove us to Agerola (path of God hike - don't do it if you are afraid of heights!) and down to Amalfi.
We really enjoyed the piece and quiet evenings here after all the hustle and bustle downtown. I would highly recommend this litle gem.
Will stay again
Sidandpaulaon 29/05/2017 19:06From a very warm welcome to the feeling of being at home, nothing was to much for them to help us with. As this was our 1st time in the area we were happy to let them point out the best locations to visit & those to avoid. The room was well equipped with a sea view, breakfast was one of the best that we have had in our travels. Would recommend this place to anyone & you certainly won't be disappointed in any aspect.
There is a reason for all the 5-star reviews
JChrisPhillipson 11/10/2016 18:12My wife and I spent three nights at il Pavone last week, not knowing a thing about Conca dei Marini, bass no our decision largely on the uniformly high reviews (as well as the location midway between Amalfi and Positano and proximity to the Sentiero degli Dei). It was certainly the right decision, and we will return.
First off, the father-son team of Vito and Salvatore are amazing. The breakfasts they serve are super. They are a wealth of formation about the area, local transportation, restaurants, etc. Vito drove us to the trail head when we wanted to hike the Trail of the Gods (not difficult for us almost 70-year-olds to hike). Nothing lacking in the local support side of our stay.
Our room at il Pavone was nice and roomy, as was the bathroom and the shower. Beds comfortable. Balcony with a nice view out over the water. We didn't use the small fridge, but it was a nice accoutrement.
Conca dei Marini is a small town, but it has a few good restaurants, at least two of which were within a ten-minute walk from il Pavone. Frequent bus service to Amalfi was a plus. Positano was a bit further away, and the bus service more problematic, but we preferred Amalfi, with its rich history, over
Positano anyway.
All in all, we loved il Pavone and plan on returning to explore the area further.
