Great B&B, amazing location, lovely host
Frajonion 06/06/2017 20:12My family stayed at this B&B for a few days in May. We had the upstairs apartment and it was perfect for the five of us: two double beds and an extra bed for our oldest child, loads of space and a good shower room.
The location was great, right on the grand canal, a stone's throw from the fish market and a vaporetto stop, and a ten minute walk from Piazza San Marco. We really loved the communal terrace - we had our (surprisingly nice for Italy) breakfast there each morning and ate cakes there from the excellent pasticceria nearby in the afternoons.
Our hosts were great - there when we arrived, uncomplicated, welcoming and helpful and mostly not otherwise around.
This was an excellent find for our family of five and we'll certainly stay here again next time we are back in Venice.
Great location, smaller quarters
Michelle Ton 23/05/2017 03:50First off, this B&B was in a great location. It's right next to the fish market and not too far from the Rialto bridge. The benefit of this was that we never worried about getting lost! As soon as we crossed the Rialto bridge we knew where to find the apartment. The host was incredibly kind and the views were breathtaking. The place was also very clean (no bed bugs!). Breakfast was convenient and there's free, fast wifi. Check out is very straightforward and we were allowed to leave our bags there since we checked out earlier (we had to leave it in the dining area though so keep that in mind if you're not comfortable leaving your luggage in a place accessible to the other B&B guests). Make sure you bring cash to pay the city tax!
Unfortunately, there were a few downsides. As other reviewers have mentioned, there is no elevator, only stairs. However, our host was very kind and helped us with some of our baggage up the stairs. Also, I think no elevators are pretty on par for an old city like Venice, but just as a heads up to some travelers out there to be ready for a climb.
Also, while there is an AC unit in the Residenza Nobile room, there is only one AC unit for a pretty big space. It was insufficient to cool the whole room. In fact, the way it's laid out, the AC is in the middle "room" and there's two separate "rooms" that are connected to it (the floor plan is pretty open, but there are walls to indicate different areas). Only the middle area (and the middle bed) actually gets cooled, the other two areas stay pretty hot. Luckily, this wasn't a big deal for us because the weather was nice when we went, but I can imagine it'd be more annoying if we went in the summer, especially because this room is essentially an attic room.
Finally, I thought it was worth mentioning that we had some issues with checking in. I did not receive an e-mail from the host asking me to tell him our time of arrival and I ended up having to make an international phone call to the number posted at the unit to call our host to get into the building. Fortunately, he was there and immediately opened the door. He said that he'd e-mailed me several times to see when my arrival time was, but when I went to check my e-mails, I'd received no such e-mails. Overall, I think it was just a miscommunication issue, but just be aware that if you book this place, make sure you touch base with the host beforehand to verify your arrival time and save yourself the international call--even if he doesn't contact you first.
Also, while this place does have a kitchen, it's locked in the daytime! So while it's located right next to the fish market, you won't be able to buy any back to store it or cook with it. Completely understand why (they're worried about contamination) and this is not a point against the B&B, but just something for people to consider when they're looking at their lodging options.
All in all, a great B&B for Venice and a great value, but not perfect.
Perfect place to stay
Sisternumber2on 19/03/2017 19:26What a find, lovely place in a very central place a few minutes walk from the Rialto. Emilia met us at the vaperetto and took us back to the lovely apartment. He was very informative and friendly. Has a balcony looking onto the canal. Beautifully clean and quiet location. Very lucky and would definitely recommmend.
Fantastic Value and Perfect Location
JFSPCZHon 13/02/2017 10:23This is a real gem of a simple B&B. The rooms overlooking the Grand Canal are lovely and surprisingly spacious. The simple outside terrace is a delight with views directly to the Rialto fish market. We had a lovely 3 night stay and would definitely return.
Wonderful experience
Anne Don 29/01/2017 15:44I am so pleased with the hotel. I booked a canal view and it was worth it! Beautiful scenery. The Ca d'oro is just right across us. I could not be pleased enough. Our host, Anna & Emiliano are very nice. They joked with us and helped us with our luggage. They were very pleasant and hospitable. Introductions was quite brief since they were in a hurry but it was wonderful meeting the couple. Breakfast and snacks are found in the kitchen, self serve. The terrace has a wonderful view of the grand canal. I didnt like the bathroom though. I guess I am just not used to old fashioned kind of keys/locks but I kept on getting locked in the bathroom and it freaked me out. I was just not comfortable with the shared bathroom. But other than that everything went smooth and the experience was fantastic. I fell in love with Venice!!!
