What People are saying

Riverside terrace bar

Called in for a drink at the Swan riverside bar. Really nice spot on a warm evening facing the river. Nice staff. Had a look in the hotel which is very impressive. Lots of history to the place with a grand entrance and stately looking bar and dining room.

Lovely afternoon tea

Dee Fon 21/08/2017 23:15

I was treated to afternoon tea as a birthday treat from a friend and we spent an enjoyable three hours over it! Sandwiches were very nice and we were asked if there were any swaps we might like to make. There were a good selection of teas to choose from and they were refreshed regularly.
The cake stand was heaving six different cakes and two types of scone, lots of clotted cream, jam and delicious lemon curd. These were full sized scones so a box to take the surplus cake home was supplied. Staff were friendly and attentive.

Beautiful dinner + cruise on the Ouse!

klambert237on 21/08/2017 11:32

Went for the cruise on the Ouse with prosecco and canapes which were beautiful, staff were fantastic and the prosecco just kept flowing! Then for 3 course set menu in the lovely main building, where I had the fish as a main course and an amazing cheesecake for dessert which was divine. The service was fantastic, particularly Cameron who checked back to make sure we were doing ok. Brill night, will definitely be going bacK!

Great location, lovely staff, decor looking a little tired

OvendenTimon 20/08/2017 21:10

Right in the centre with a lovely view of the river. Warm welcome, easy parking and all the things you need for a family stay. The decor was tired - all rather brown with some carpets that needed replacing and some areas that need the paint retouching.
Our room was comfortable with effective air conditioning that prevented the dreaded too hot hotel room syndrome. The shower was part of the bath and was perfectly adequate but in no sense luxurious.
Breakfast was standard hotel. The afternoon teas looked great.
We used the pool and jacuzzi which my daughter love but too small for a proper swim. We did not use the spa - which appeared very popular.
Overall everything was as we needed but we didn't feel spoilt

Great spa evening - Lotus Spa

K Son 20/08/2017 20:07

We enjoyed an evening here for our anniversary, and had a great time!

When we first arrived, we couldn't actually find the spa! So it could have been better signposted. When we arrived, the friendly receptionist explained how the evening would go, and let us in to the pool/Jacuzzi area a bit early. It was a bit loud because the pool has water falling from the roof in a kind of waterfall effect, but otherwise it was clean, with towels, plenty of lockers, a warm shower etc. Jacuzzi was lovely, like a hot bath! Pool was a bit dirty/dusty but lovely to swim in otherwise.

WE had 2 mini treatments, and both masseurs were great. 20 minutes each and so relaxing! After that we had more time in the pool and Jacuzzi before we got dressed and had our cheese and wine.

The cheese board was impressive, huge chunks of stilon, goats cheese, smoked cheddar, brie, with grapes, crackers and chutney. Wine was also lovely, definitely recommend going for the cheeseboard!

The only downside was that it arrived late (we had to go remind the main hotel reception that we were waiting) and the celery on the board had to be given back and cleaned because it had dirt/mould on it. They dealt with it straight away and were apologetic, but I felt a bit off after the celery.

All in all, other than the food mishap, it was a great experience,
