Bunratty is a lovely place to stay but castle gardens run by rent an Irish cottage is not the place to stay. Ideally located in the heart of the village these three bedroom and four bedroom houses should offer everything. Grounds are run down, houses need serious upgrading, no money is being spent here. We rented a three bedroom, old furniture, mismatched cutlery and a really small tube tv!!! Haven't seen one of these TVs in years. Really uncomfortable beds, cheap bed linen. Spoke with another couple staying here, they were delayed getting there own house due to over booking.
We stayed here years ago when these houses first opened and it was great, but nothing has changed in that time and the management of these houses needs to be seriously questioned. Will not be back. The manager on site did his best to look after us and he did a great job with what he had to hand.

The double and 2 twin bedrooms (twin rooms were ensuite) along with a main bathroom suited our party of 6 adults perfectly. Kitchen was adequately fitted out enabling eating in a possibility if required. Bunratty had a number of excellent pubs and restaurants so eating out was very convenient. As was touring the Clare Coast line and the other tourist attractions available in the surrounding area. I would also like to make a special mention of Maria who manned reception among her other duties. She went out of her way to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Thank you

Gorgeous looking houses. We was pleasantly surprised when we entered the house, my elderly mother had a downstairs bedroom and bathroom and 2 more bedrooms upstairs each with en suites. Very clean and fresh. Lounge and kitchen again clean and fresh also an outside decking and picnic table and large shared space. Marie the manager was very pleasant and extremely helpful. Our 4 days here for acwedding at Bunratty went perfectly. We would definitely come back here again but for longer next time.

When we arrived it was difficult to find the Castle Garden houses and we had to ask someone to point us in the right direction. Then it wasn't easy to find the Reception but eventually we did.
After all that we met Joan the supervisor and she organised someone to show us to our house, The house was clean and tidy and apart from a few small issues which we resolved ourselves we didn't have any real big complaints.
The area is nice and quiet but still only a small walk from the Castle and local pubs and restaurants. The only shop is at the local petrol station but Shannon town is only 10 minutes away and there is a medium size shopping centre there.
I notice a few reviews saying Joan can be a bit off putting. We found her to be very pleasant and easy to deal with.
The beach at Spanish Point and Lahinch is only 45 minutes away and when you are on holiday that isn't really a big drive.
All in all I would highly recommend Castle Gardens.

This was such a fun place to stay! The rooms were nice, clean and cozy. There was a total for 5 beds. One was a queen in one room, with its own shower/bath. Be advised all of the showers are small, about 3ft by 3ft. The other 2 bedrooms have 2 twin beds in each and each had its own shower/bath. The villa was perfect for us, with the dining room and kitchenette. We were able to bring left overs home and have it the next day...save money! You are very close (within walking distance, about 2-3 'city' blocks) to Durty Nellies (VERY good food and if you can hit a music night that would be wonderful), J.P. Gallagers (food was ok, pricy and I liked Durty's better) and Bunratty Castle. The location is pretty good, though it is quite a drive to some places. It took us 2.5 hours to get to Dublin. About 30-45 mins to get to Cliffs of Moher. It was a great place and the people are so friendly. One downside is its hard to get ahold of anyone in the office. When we went to pick up our key, no one was in. We waited and got lucky later when the maintnence man can (he was lovely!)
