Nice place for a night

A nice place for a stay. Nice friendly and helpful hosts, nice clean rooms and well located. The surprising point was a nice warm unit with plenty of heating. The room was small but perfectly adequate for one or a couple.

Hi All.
I had booked a room at Bella-vista following the death of my uncle. I had flown from Tonga into Auckland airport, hired a car and drove to the Bella Vista Motel. I had pre booked, got an expensive room, arranged a late check in where they would leave a key in my room with lights on etc. It sounded perfect.
Brace yourself now. at around 3am I arrived to the motel, obviously shattered from my flight and a drive uptown Whangarei at that time of night. I couldn't wait to have a short sleep then go off to the morgue to set up my Uncles day.
Well.......it turns out the door had been locked.
I accept it was most likely a mistake, that is life, mistakes happen. So I called the 0800 number and was confronted with a member (Jason? Can't recall...) who did not offer one bit of help...in fact he was happy for me to stay outside the hotel in my car until 7:30 or so when reception opened. He couldn't give me one bit of help.

I went over and over with him and said you are happy to leave me outside the hotel and not help me at all. He said ring the reception which is obviously un manned.

As a result of this I went to the Distinction as a walk-in at 4am and greeted me with a smile, and mentioned that this happens a lot.

Its not a small brand, its a chain that should not offer and accept a horrible event.

I was expecting an email from the manager as requested from the receptionist. This did not happen. Its been two months.

Thanks for reading and I don't do reviews but felt I had to this time.

Absolutely exceptional!

Was up here for a couple days during the Lions Tour and my stay was one of my best ones in a Motel to-date! Host's were absolutely great, and did everything they can to make my stay as pleasant as it was. They accomodated my early/late check-in times which I thought was very kind of them. The room was very well equipped with all the neccesary amenities. Unlimited Wi-Fi was available for use in every room; the Televisions were also Smart TVs so you could watch online content (youtube, netflix, sky go) straight from the television.

Very handy location, an easy 5 minute walk from the central city.

Will be back here forsure!

Clean, tidy, central

Motel is modern looking, rooms are clean and well appointed. Situated on the main road north it is easy to find and handy to the city centre. Owners were friendly and welcoming.
Despite being on the main road it was very quiet.
I would stay again when in Whangarei.

Bella Vista

We had a lovely short stay at the Bella Vista in Whangarei. Our room was lovely and exceptionally clean , big enough for two adults and our children. The kitchenette was well equipped. Two televisions, one in the bedroom and the other in lounge with good channel selection. Highlight was most definitely that spa bath and the plentiful supply of luxury soap and shampoo in full sized bottles instead of those annoying little packets. Plenty of towels and face clothes, as well as extra blankets and pillows if needed..... we loved it. :)
