Well located, average hotel
EuropeSlatchon 19/08/2017 17:02Many of the reviews have already described how dated the accommodation in this hotel is. It's located in the centre of the city and its the location which redeems this venue. The parking was a distance from the hotel and was expensive. The reception staff were warm and welcoming.
Excellent location but the rest is average
veronicamustang2016on 13/08/2017 16:54You cannot beat this location and with windows overlooking the main pedestrian street, and beautiful old buildings, the ambience is wonderful. Although busy when windows open, it is whisper quiet when the windows are closed.What lets this hotel down is the shabby appearance in the lobby and staircase . There is no airconditioing , so the room can get hot when windows closed at night. The towels are thin and small. I think I have
had hankies thicker than those towels. The breakfast would have been passable if it was included in the over inflated room rate but it was about $25 per person for a very average breakfast. After having just stayed in Zurich and Appenzel where service is their middle name, I found the staff lacking in the gracious service experienced in other parts of Switzerland.
Lovely, old fashioned hotel
Parkeglion 23/07/2017 03:19This is an old fashioned, charming hotel toward the river. My room faced the street on the second floor, right next to the hotel sign. I loved the large windows and the view of the street. With the windows open, you can hear the tram (which stops very close to the hotel - convenient) but with the windows closed, it was pretty quiet. The furniture and the carpet are a little worn but the room was comfortable and spacious. The hotel has a wonderful collection of art on display in public areas. The location was super and the reception staff were very friendly and helpful. They made me feel at home. I only stayed one night but I would be happy to return. The hotel gives you a free tram pass for the duration of your stay.
Old Town hotel
Povilas Ion 27/06/2017 08:21Hotel is located just at the end of the Old Town at one of the main streets. The river is just few hundred meters away. The breakfast was simple, but very tasty and it was really enough.
As it was very hot during our stay in Bern, we really have missed air conditioner.
Charming historical hotel with excellent service
Milan_I_72on 12/06/2017 09:20I stayed here for 6 nights on business trip. Belle Epoque is a charming hotel with fantastic location in the old town. Many restaurants and shops close by. The staff are very friendly and helpful providing excellent service. Breakfast is good with variety of food. The meals prepared by Chef are amazing. The rooms are comfortable with the interesting décor.
l would highly recommend this charming historical hotel!
