What People are saying

Dated and lacking in charm

Elrehaon 01/08/2017 02:59

The hotel is in the middle of a massive renovation, so hopefully many of the aspects we did not appreciate will be changed. That said, the hotel had plenty of potential but consistently fell flat. Both the lobby and our room felt dated. The hotel overall seemed past its prime - there was a sense that the hotel was once beautiful and grand but its heyday was long over. The bedroom suite was enormous and the bed was comfortable. We were on the 6th floor and had a fantastic view. However, there were stray hairs on the bathroom floor, which, while the only noticeable grime, called into question the cleanliness of the rest of the room. Perhaps the renovation will restore the hotel to its former grandeur, but if you are looking for a historic hotel, this will not fit the bill.

Historic

It is a very nice historic hotel. It is a little outdated in the rooms, but customer service and the stay was very nice. I had to travel once a month for 2 years for school so I stayed here several times with some friends and we all enjoyed it. Breakfast was amazing. I recommend this place.

Not Flexible

Tried to make a change in nights, from Friday to Saturday night (1 day), they had vacancy, but wouldn't allow it because evidently I booked through a 3rd party?? When I spoke to the 3rd party they said they couldn't make the change, only the hotel can. Long story short, instead of losing $120, I had to make a change in my schedule which messed up my entire trip.

Rooms are decent, lobby is a mess, and the restaurant staff were not very friendly and accomodating.

They've changed ownership & names...surprise!

I wasn't watching closely as I came into town as I saw a downtown area with a high degree of vagrancy and missed the old sign. Once I called them, they told me their new name "Bigelow" and I circled back. They said to park in front of the office where there were lights and cameras. We're off to a good start. Went in and the lobby was tore up, the bathroom closed and the place was shabby. Checked in anyway and our tv didn't work although the room was large and clean. Bed was so-so to sleep on. Windows were not modern enough to keep out the noise. So what was the upside? The desk advised us we would walk down the historic 25th street until about 9 pm before becoming concerned. We did that to eat in some delightful restaurants, visit the historic train station at the end of the block and walk over to the movie theater one afternoon. The price was modest but still, I wouldn't stay here again. Too run down to enjoy any ambiance in a "historical hotel".

Better than ever

This grand western hotel is in the process of getting a facelift which makes the already quaint and cozy accommodations even nicer than before. An additional benefit to the hotel is that the view from the higher floors it's spectacular. Mine being on the 7th floor was quite enjoyable looking out on the mountains. The room itself was very spacious providing a sleeping area as well as a sitting room both with flat screen TVs. The staff at the Ben Lomond we're particularly gracious upon arrival, whenever I had any questions, and as I was checking out. There is an attached restaurant which I did not have the opportunity to try, but provided delicious smells during dinner hours. It also appears as though the hotel provides and event space which looked to be set up for a wedding, potentially. In addition to the comfortable stay, the hotel is located very near several dining and entertainment options all within walking distance, including the multiplex cinema.
