Excellent little hotel on the slopes above Grindelwald
dunatovon 24/07/2017 20:54This is a gorgeous little hotel halfway up the First gondola from Grindelwald. Cute bedrooms although separate bathrooms for some rooms (including a family room) is disappointing. This, with no air-conditioning in the rooms on a hot summers day, means a 5-star rating isn't possible. Otherwise, a genuinely lovely hotel with lots of charm and great views of the mountains around Grindelwald. Also, very friendly staff and service at the hotel and also serving great breakfast and dinner. Definitely recommended for staying at instead of being in the village below, although be prepared and buy the gondola multi-day pass to avoid a very expensive trip to get there.
Breathtaking views and great modern Swiss chalet !
Marikokanekoon 23/07/2017 06:05Grindelwald is pretty commercial with its loads of buses and tourists in town ...but it is a great base to explore around . Berghaus Bort is a gem in the area ! The views are incredible and the hotel has been totally remodeled . Rooms are comfortable , modern while keeping all the charm of a chalet . It has the feel of an altitude refuge in a modern way . Lots of attention to details to make your stay enjoyable. The hotel is only accessible by a 1 lane road in summer ( 20% grade ) and by gondola the rest of the time ...no buses of tourists there ! The restaurant serves great simple food , local cheeses, charcuterie and the buffet breakfast was wonderful too. Would love to stay again and again !

just a bémol ; the price of the cable car .....swiss price ! and no pass for one or two days ...oups

on 09/07/2017 13:56Stayed here with my wife for two nights in July, 2017. Probably one of the best experiences in my life.
You have to take the gondola from Grindlewald to Bort (1st stop), the hotel is steps away from the gondola station. The hotel staff are fantastic, pleasant and extremely helpful. The restaurant was delicious and surprisingly affordable (shocking, I know) and although the rooms don't have refrigerators, they kept food we brought cool in the main fridge.
The views from the room are absolutely stunning and the hotel is a great starting point for endless hikes up and around the mountain.

Rob Oon 09/07/2017 13:18This is an outstanding hotel that puts you right in to mountains as you walk out the door. The rooms are well furnished, super clean and the staff is very friendly. Dinner was excellent and the breakfast is suitable - automatic coffee/espresso machine doesn't make the best cup of cappuccino or espresso.
Its a nice ride up by gondola - we drove a mid-sized van up in summer time with no issue - road is narrow but paved.
