What People are saying

Nice stay but too expensive

Stephen Bon 30/12/2016 23:17

We spent 2 nights in the hotel during December with unfortunately no snow..
The hotel has very good equipment (spa, fitness, bowling, restaurant, play room for young kids, ...) and friendly staff.
We had a well equipped and quite large room except the tiny bathroom (unexpected for 250eur+ per night).
The breakfast and dinner buffet has a lot of choices but the quality is below our expectations given the price (drinks are not included and expensive). Also the plates don't change much from one day to the next so I probably wouldn't book all meals for a longer stay.
The kids liked the breakfast Pancakes a lot ☺️
Overall too expensive (680 eur, 1 room, 4p, 2 nights, breakfast + dinner buffet + reasonable drinks) compared with other places we stayed during our trip and who offer better amenities / service.

Great stay in Oberhof!

I stayed here for 2 nights with my partner with breakfast buffet and dinner buffet both days. There was a wide selection to suit all tastes, mainly German food though. All meals were of high standard. For breakfast the drinks were included but for dinner you had to pay for them separately, which was disappointing. Staff were friendly and approachable. The room was clean, wifi was good and the location was perfect for walking. The spa was also very nice but sadly there was no pool. A fantastic stay and would definitely come again!

Average hotel in a typical ski-resort

fleermuison 05/08/2016 10:52

Everything about this town and this hotel breathes "ski-resort" to us. That's not a real problem, but it means that it's aimed at a slightly different public than the hotels we usually stay in. A little less "class", a little more "a place to sleep".

We had a suite, wich had a bit of an awkward configuration. Behind the door there first was a small "hall" (presumably to get your skiing gear of before entering the proper living compartments), through which you enter a smallish living compartment. Through that you get to the bedroom with the rather small bathroom connecting to that. We felt that knocking through the walls between the hall-livingroom-bedroom would have made it feel much bigger than this now felt.

Though the room was cleaned properly, it didn't feel quite as fresh as we would have felt really comfortable with. The toilet constantly emitted a slight whiff of urine, barely noticibale, but still... The furniture was just that bit too simple to our taste (and the fee the hotel asks for a stay).

Breakfast was adequate, but made us feel justified in our decision the have dinner elsewhere. The restaurant is quite modern and new, but it just felt as if after refurbishing/building it, it was left to it's own resources.

Parking is free and there is enouygh space in the summer.

In the end, we think this is a very decent hotel if you come to Oberhof for skiiing in the winter. But for us, this just wasn't it.

Confortable and nice hotel for some holidays

We stayed at Berghotel Oberhof in August for a week with breakfastbuffet, a soup at lunch and dinnerbuffet and it was a really good decision. We enjoyed everyday and relaxed the whole week. We had a familyroom which was a great thing so our baby could sleep in peace and we could still enjoy the afternoon. The food was really nice and the night buffet did change everyday, which I had not seen before in other hotels. The hotel has a spa which we unfortunately didn´t get to use, but looked nice. At night you could take a cocktail in the terrace and they were good cocktails! Parking was free, also free wifi, close to the town and close to the forrest. I can defintely recomend this hotel.

Very nice stay

I stayed for business one night in the main building. I had a single room, which was not large, but okay for a one night stay. The room was clean and nicely decorated. The hotel staff was very friendly. The breakfast buffet had exactly what you needed, and the scrabled eggs was just perfect. The area is mainly a winter sport area, but I would come back in summer for walking in the woods there, so quiet and nice.
