Traditional Swiss Hospitality
LCWWon 24/08/2017 01:03A great location in the heart of Kandersteg, and a short walk to the Oschinensee gondola station, St Mary’s Catholic Church and the Tourist Information Office. We stayed in a Superior Double Room of 20 sq metres at this delightful family-run hotel. It is not often that you have the owners attending to you at the reception and in the restaurant. Comfortable room with free wifi and keyed safe, but no refrigerator. The balcony opens out to a great view of the valley, with the Blüemlisalp in the background. Great view of the mountains from the bathroom window, as well. Free parking on site. Generous continental breakfast spread. The main road through Kandersteg runs outside our window, but effective window glazing kept the noise out. Laundry facilities available, and there is a kid’s playroom on the second storey. We’ll certainly stay here the next time we are in Kandersteg.

Roger Con 19/08/2017 13:57Staying at the Bernerhof is like staying with friends as everybody is so friendly and accommodating. We also love the view from our balcony and, after a day exploring it is good to relax and take in the picturesque surroundings, particularly the constantly changing light on the mountains.
A fairytale family run hotel in the glorious Swiss Alps.
Colin Son 17/08/2017 19:02Claudia and Gerhard are wonderful, kind and considerate hosts that make all their guest feel special. Our room had a balcony with panoramic view up to the glaciers above the scenic Ochinensee. Wet and exhausted after a day's hike in the clouds we returned to the hotel sauna and gourmet food in a friendly and relaxed restaurant atmosphere. As a final touch Claudia kindly drove us to Kandersteg station on a drizzly early morning. Great good value hotel with perfect hosts.
Ultimate Swiss Hotel
Richard Son 05/08/2017 21:57We stayed two nights in mid-July and it was the most incredible experience of our trip. The staff is beyond fantastic. You need it - they've got it or they will help you with it. Super friendly. The view out the front of the hotel is spectacular - an ever changing view of the Alps. The restaurant is excellent whether it was the buffet breakfast or the evening meal. We chose the hotel basically by chance - all of the hotels in Kandersteg look good - but this one was the best.

The Bernerhof has the best and most amazing views of majestic, soaring Blumlisalp! No other hotel even comes close to the beauty you can see out your hotel room or while dining in their perfectly elegant, yet cozy dining room. With close access to many hiking trails and the train station, you'll never lack for day-time activities. The owners, Gerhard and Claudia, are very warm, welcoming, attentive, engaging, and the best Swiss hosts you'll ever encounter! These characteristics also describe their staff and their chef creates dinners to remember! It's always a sad day when it's time to leave!
