College visit to Northeastern
Steph Son 23/07/2017 21:07We stayed just one night at the Bertram Inn in room 10. I am so glad that we were able to spend at least one night. We Lyfted from the airport and arrived without incident. Nice view from the front. 4 steps up to the entry way. We were greeted right away and got checked in. Right off the entry way is the dining space, which has water, tea and coffee all the time. There are also snacks available at all times which was wonderful traveling with a teenager AND given all the walking we did. In addition the milk, they also have almond milk available. We walked up to our room and just loved it! The owner has kept the decorations true and beautiful. Our room had a queen bed with a walk in closet and good sized bedroom. One interesting note is they keep unoccupied rooms' doors open so we were able to take a peek in other rooms as well. They have a DVD library and so we were able to watch a movie before turning in the for the night. We did need some help with all the remotes but that was given graciously. The room has blackout shades which was a lifesaver. The night was quiet and we slept well. Next morning: breakfast. Very very good. Fruit salad, fruits, breads, egg frittata, hard boiled eggs. There is a different entree each morning. We were able to hold our luggage during our tour for the morning and came back for our bags at 3. Such a helpful group. We lacked nothing during our stay; would love to come back!
Friendly, quiet and Boston-lishish
damajaneon 16/06/2017 12:17Just stayed at The Bertram Inn for three days and truly enjoyed the antique feel of the place as well as the location. It was in the 90's and even though the AC was not 4 star, it was adequate and we slept well. The bed was comfortable and, due to double glazing on the windows, our room on the first floor was quiet. If you don't mind stairs, the rooms upstairs looked very nice. What sets The Bertram apart is its service. Astrid stands out but there were several others who were enthusiastically friendly and helpful in meeting our needs while we were there. I'd say it was almost like visiting friends if that didn't sound like a cliche. They helped with getting luggage up and down the front stairs, brought ice promptly and gave great instructions for getting around. We also met some other very nice, interesting travelers. It's a short walk to excellent restaurants, Trader Joe's and the T - a zippy old metro that 'could' and does get you around. Since it was so hot, we mostly used Uber - quick and a great way to meet people from all over the world. Boston is nothing if it isn't diverse. Astrid speaks fluent Spanish! The one thing I'd ask for improvement on is breakfast. More emphasis on fruit, healthy breads and eggs with vegetables, less sugar over all. We liked the generosity of carb pastries and snacks (many homemade) but would've appreciated a healthier offering.
Beautiful old Inn in a great area!
Jaynicole11on 16/06/2017 01:52Visited Boston and didn't want to stay right in the city. First off for Boston area being super expensive this place was greatly priced especially for a Bnb! The staff was very helpful and friendly! Had a very old feel but the good old feeling. Comfort beautiful and homey. The bed was absolutely amazing! Seriously the most comfortable bed I ever slept in! Fireplace and the shower was great! Spacious room! The inn is located close enough to walk to Fenway little over a mile. Felt very safe there! Great breakfast hot food provided, pastries, fruit, cereals ect! Coffee tea and water afternoon cookies! We actually got engaged the night we stayed there! So this place will hold a very special place in my heart! Also a cute touch they leave you chocolates and a letter with tomorrow's weather, menu ect. I've never seen an inn do that. Only complaint my other half being an electrician the electric work in the room was not of code and not safe. Other than that nothing bad to say!
Lovely B&B
Love2travelWfam2on 03/05/2017 04:26We stayed her while visiting my son who attend Boston University and was in a show. We were looking for some place at that end of BU. Usually we stay at the Marrioitt Fenway or Eliott Hotel. I looked up the review and decided to try this on mostly because of location but also due to cost. It was lovely!!! We hit a lot of traffic going up and were running late to the show. I called the Inn and explained that i would have to do check in after the show. They were very accommodating and we made arrangements for the late check in. I also asked her to call a cab and she did and the cab was waiting for us when we pulled up. Yes, we made the show in time. BUT I have never had such wonderful friendly service!!! The was large and clean. The bed was comfy. We had a sofa and nice size bathroom. The bathroom cabinets, if I can be picky, needed a little touch up with stain and to tighten a few screws. But it was a lovely victorian bathroom. We enjoyed the early breakfast out on the porch. A few people were sitting out on the deck. They had fruit, scones, cheddar muffins, cup cakes, toast, coffee, tea, OJ, pastries, and hot & fresh Eggs Benedict for the breakfast with relaxing background music. This is a very friendly Inn and the staff went above and beyond for us. She even asked us about the show the next morning.... we will return.
Not a B&B person but
eveonleaveon 18/02/2017 21:48The staff was friendly and accommodating. The old home the establishment occupies is quite nice. My room was workable. The common rooms were well-appointed. A lot of care and effort clearly goes into making guests happy
