Noisy, Cramped and Hot
johnashon 05/05/2015 20:49We visited this traffic-blighted town to see the First World War memorial by the river which commemorates, amongst many others, a Great Uncle who died near the beginning of the war.
We were not disappointed in the memorial but were in the town and hotel.
On the positive side, we had a warm greeting from the lady on reception. And the rate was relatively low, so our expectations were not that high.
But the room, at the front of the building, was so small that we had to take it in turns to move around!
During the night, we were so hot that we opened the window. Big mistake as a lorry passes at few feet away at least once every 30 seconds. So the choice was to not sleep due to the heat or not sleep due to the noise. We did not have a good night.
Before that, there appearing to be no other choice, we ate in the buffet restaurant which is part of the hotel. Very poor value and reminiscent of school dinners. Our recommendation would be to take the starters and the dessert (this is an option) and avoid the main course. The starters, to be fair, were good and there was a wide choice of these.
If the room had been at the back of the hotel and there had been some ventilation in the room, this review may well have been quite different but we can only report as we find and that was not good. Our worst night on an 18 day driving tour.
Nice welcome
Jackie Son 12/11/2014 11:19We stayed here for 1 night, and we could not fault it. It is a basic hotel, with no frills, ie no hairdryer or kettle, but you don't normally get those in the cheaper hotels in France. Room was lovely and clean, nice comfy bed, nice warm water for your shower, and a nice quiet room. They allowed us to use the room after booking out time as we had to attend a function. We would stay there again if we are in the area.
Great accomadation
Terry Con 05/08/2014 22:32We found this hotel very good. Rooms a good size and very clean. Beds very comfortable. Staff friendly and helpful. Good buffet breakfast. There is a good bakery next door. Train station only a 10 minute walk to take you to Paris (takes 40 minutes). Bus stop right in front of hotel to take you to Paris Disneyland. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
On the way to Champagne
kevinhaydenon 20/08/2012 09:00La Ferté sous Jouarre is a town it's hard to put a fair description on. It has it's charm, and the Marne river, and rolling hills containing some wonderful untouched villages. That is what brought me back to stay in this hotel. The hotel has been newly renovated, and well finished too! Having been in the business I'm a stickler for detail, and for a hotel at this price the finish is excellent. The cleanliness is great, the reception was friendly and helpful, and the noise levels even on the road front have been cut down. The other important thing is individual room insulation is well done as we hardly heard our neighbors kids. Note : If you like firm beds great!
