Great location to use as a base to see area attractions
Mick Gon 31/07/2017 01:35We stayed four nights. During our stay we visited the Museum of the Big Bend in Alpine, the McDonald Observatory outside Ft. Davis, saw the Marfa lights, toured historical Ft. Davis, spent a day in Big Bend National Park, and crossed the Rio Grande over into Mexico on the Boquillas International Ferry. The Quality Inn worked well as a center of operations. The room was clean and very comfortable, and our room was extremely quiet, which is always a big plus. The complementary breakfast included waffles, eggs, sausage, gravy, biscuits, yogurt, and a bunch of other breakfast items including, of course, coffee and juices. Very friendly and helpful staff. Free coffee in the lobby 24 hours.
We stayed on the first floor, but be advised there is no elevator if that is a concern. Pool and hot tub were average. Pluses are ample free parking in a well lit lot, great air conditioner, free local newspapers, and a good TV, microwave, and refrigerator. There were the usual little things you find in all hotels, especially staying four days (minor key-carded door lock problem, shower water pressure a bit low), and the bathroom was small; but overall, we felt it was a very good value for our money. We would definitely stay there again.
Nice but no elevator
Tamik09on 26/07/2017 20:52The room was nice and clean. The lobby was pretty. No elevator so make sure you get a first floor room if you have any trouble with stairs. Breakfast was good. The staff were friendly. We would stay here again.
Doggies!
MG Lon 21/07/2017 11:43We had three rooms here for one night. Upon entry to my room it had a smell I could not identify at first, but it did not smell fresh. I was dissapointed but we had a tight schedule to keep for the evening so I did not request a room change. I was wondering if it was an unpleasant cleaning product. Finally I was able to figure it out. Doggies! The room had the smell of doggies that had likely stayed with a guest.
Some of us had trouble with our room keys deactivating. I could not get my tv working. The room size was okay, but the toilet shower combo is tight. The sink is in the room. The view was only a parking lot with a car right there. The breakfast area is small and the usual offerings, which I did not eat.
Some of the better features of the hotel are the lobby (comfy chairs, big chandelier, hand painted murals to enjoy); the pool has a mountain as the backdrop and I enjoyed sitting out there; the parking is plentiful, free, assessable; and the ice machine.
Lastly the staff were friendly to us but we will likely go to another hotel next time.
It was okay
Sarah Pon 05/07/2017 23:27The hotel was neat and looked clean. There was coffee and cookies upon arrival. The breakfast was not so great though. There was nothing available....the one guy could not keep up with the crowd. Needless to say the breakfast that came with the stay was not good....we ended up leaving and eating elsewhere. Further, our key-cards kept deactivating and the door kept beeping....all night. The people were nice though!!!
Great place!
rlhscotton 03/07/2017 18:07Our family used the Quality Inn as our base camp for excursions to Fort Davis, McDonald Observatory and Balmorhea. It was a great place to cool off in the pool after getting hot. The pool area was clean and had nice shade areas also. Hotel was clean, breakfast was good. All in all a great place!
