Lovely Hotel for the price

We stayed here whilst in the area for a wedding. The hotel looks very traditional from the outside. It is right on the main road and with a lot of 1 way systems it took us a little time to find the car park. There is a small bar/restaurant located next to reception. The room was nice and clean and had all the amenities you would need for a short stay. We had trouble contacting reception with the phone in the room unfortunately.
The bed was very comfortable but the windows are very thin so we were woken early by people coming and going outside.
Breakfast was amazing, they offer an extensive choice and the staff were great.
Overall a lovely hotel, just wish we had got a better nights sleep

Overnight stay in 'accessible' room (off the court-yard). Access wouldn't be suitable for a wheelchair but fine if you can manage 1-2 small steps. Room had plenty of space as did the level access shower room.
Super King sized bed which was clean and comfortable enough for a decent nights sleep.
The room was well presented and (while I don't swab things, run my fingers along the tops of wardrobes, or crawl around the floor) was certainly clean enough for me not to be concerned in any way at all.
There was a little noise (briefly) coming from the courtyard at around 10pm (it seems to be used as a shortcut by the public) but it didn't keep me awake.
Reception (in the main building) was clean and the staff polite and helpful.
I've had better breakfasts (tinned fruit - really?), but it was adequate - I didn't go hungry.
If you have a disability, it's worth noting that the car park is at the rear of the building, across a small road. Not really far to reception but far enough if walking or carrying luggage is a bit of a challenge.
Interesting building if you like architecture and history, as is the town.
I'd stay again if I was in the area.

Best ever dinner rate

Good value 2 night break with dinner on the first night. Deluxe room spacious and comfortable. Staff friendly and helpful. You feel safe here as a single older lady on her own. Like all old buildings, there are always things which need maintenance or upgrading . But I have stayed here a few times and found it relaxing. If you have mobility problems, there is no lift and you may have a long walk up and down to your room. Make sure you let them know!

excellent hotel with more than helpful staff . would certainly stop here again. Both evening meal and breakfast were very tasty, Ideal location for the town and easy to get to from the A1. If you need to stop in the Grantham area then this hotel has got to be a contender.

Read the Terrible Reviews, Not the Excellent ones written by staff IMO....

My wife and I are currently suitcasing it across Europe for over a month now, trying to stay at the best available hotels in each city we visit. We were hesitant to stay here but it was a best western brand and it was really cheap, so we figured how bad could it be, the reviews look good? (Big Mistake)
This place is cheap for a very good reason.
The rooms are filthy and the constant noise from the courtyard below will keep you up all night long!
The night manager obviously allows this place to be run like a Hostel at best and more like a low class community college dormitory. After making a midnight complaint about the noise below to him, he still allowed it to go on all night and into the morning when the kitchen crew showed up. It is totally impossible to sleep through the constant conversations taking place outside in the courtyard (echo chamber) below. Every 20 minutes throughout the night, you will hear drunks gather in front of the two in-house bars below smoking, laughing, arguing nonstop..No matter what you try to do, turn tv on, close windows (No AC, Hot and Stuffy and Smells) the conversations will seem like they are taking place next to your bed, in your room. The courtyard acts like a perfect echo chamber and the hotel staff must not realize this because they seem clueless to it, when you complain about it?
Like I said, complaining to the night manager did nothing, all he does is pace the courtyard every 15 mins throughout the night, smoke his cigarette, cough then spit, then go back inside..I could set my watch by his smoking habit and pacing. Horrible!

Then around 5:30-6:00am the kitchen staff shows up for work, they gather on the table below, talking about their previous night out,etc not giving any concern at all that guests are right above them, trying to get some sleep if at all possible.(Not possible)

Whatever you do, don't fall for their cheap rate, it's cheap for a reason...

Nobody at this dump cares and it clearly shows...Pay an extra few bucks and find a place where it's quiet, clean and they care!

I have to believe some of these excellent reviews are being written by staff, there is no way anyone can say this dump is 4-5 stars at $44, lol.

Read the Poor and Terrible reviews for a true description before deciding to book IMO.

Local and Best Western management need to actually stay in these rooms at this dump themselves during the wknd and see for themselves, how horrible that noise is coming from the courtyard IMO.
