What People are saying
Dreadful
on 01/08/2017 19:45Went there for only 2 days(thankfully) expecting a nice hotel but soon found out the pictures were really misleading the "decor" is horrible and everything was dirty and had an unclean feel to it. The staff barely spoke English and the so called "service" was dreadful. Never to go there again please save yourself from the horrors of this hotel.
Unprofessional and rude staff - Not 4* Please note
Sena6911on 30/07/2017 14:02The worst hotel we've ever visited in range of 4* . The front desk staff are rude, not at all helpful, and quite arrogant. We are a family of 5 (2 adults & 3 children, 14, 8 & 5) booked a family room. When we got at 8 in the evening, we were made to understand that the family room is for 4 people. Fair enough, but we were 5 and I told them we wouldn't mind being provided with a rollover bed even at a cost, but we are told that it was not possible. They were not at all open to compromise or helping, even though they could see that my 8 and 5 year old had slumped on their seats tired and asleep. I requested to speak with the manager but we were told they were not available until I complained to Booking.com. B.com insisted to speak to a manager. Then one of the three guys (the only woman) at reception finally phoned the 'owner' who then gave them authorisation that it was okay for 5 of us to stay in the family room. In my opinion, right or wrong, the reception staff were very unprofessional, bloodyminded and they displayed the worse attitude I ever encounter in any hotel - even in those with fewer stars than 4. And certainly this hotel is not worthy of 4 stars.
So-called 'Art Hotel' is situated in a busy somewhat rundown neighbourhood The hotel interior itself is decorated, although the displayed arts and craft are not to my taste: tacky, downmarket art - although I must say I wasnt expecting anything better (you wouldnt display the Mona Lisa in the hallways of a million-star hotel). My sons liked the lift as they can see the machinery, pulleys, winches taking the lift up and down. My daughter also liked the women's toilets downstairs, with its mirror effects etc.
However, the room we stayed in was far below par, worthy of only 2*. The beds were so hard that even my youngest was pointed out how uncomfortable they were. There was dust everywhere, on the tables, TV etc. The family bed is small and pinched, the bunk beds narrow and cot-sized in width. Carpet too garish and threadbare - the room interior is generally dated and tired. In the cubicle where the bunk bed is squeezed into, the window is not child-protected, any hyperactive child can easily open the window, climb out and drop straight down - and we stayed in the 6th floor of the 10 floor hotel!
The toilet and shower are in the same space - sad! The bathroom door hinges creak badly and loudly and the door is unable to close. The kitchenette only has a couple of cups, a microwave and a coffee machine with no coffee, tea or sugar provided. Cutlery and coffee come at an extra charge. There was an open pot of chocolate mousse under the bunk bed from the previous guests - so the room wasn't well-cleaned before we were admitted to it! And they say cleaners only change sheets and vacuum the floor every 3 days. We went out and came back later in the evening to find our room strewn with some of the bread/biscuit crumbs my children left.
General I find the whole atmosphere of the hotel depressing and unwholesome. Worthy of only 2 stars.
Great location for Rotterdam travel
Dave Ton 23/07/2017 14:19Lovely hotel with really pleasant staff. The hotel is full of abstract art and no two rooms the same. Great location as tube station 2 minutes walk away to travel all over Rotterdam. Use every time i visit to watch feyenoord.
Dust with a nice view
Karen Aon 15/07/2017 17:50When you first step into the suite you are blown away by the view of the city.
The room is a good size with a small kitchen(microwave and watercooker; no tea or coffee).
The bathroom is also a decent size with both a bathtub and a shower.
Let's get to the dust. The room has a carpet floor, which judging by the stains hasnt been cleaned forever(maybe vacuumed) The window sills and bathroom blinds were covered in dust and as soon as you moved the room was a scene from sharknado, with dust particles flying around everywhere. Being slightly allergic to dust, this was the nightmare I'd hoped to live through.
The service was good, saw many bad reviews about the restaurant so we didn't try that.
The wifi was terrible, nothing would load and at times it just stopped working completely.
We were on the 10th floor right next to the metro station, but the last metro left at midnight so that wasn't all too bad!
The art was lovely and the overall theme of the hotel was nice too! Staff were friendly and the location was superb(metro for €7,50/day).
Enjoyed the stay from dust to dawn.
uncomfortable and disappointing experience
suziwong560on 15/07/2017 16:56The mattress on the right side of the bed was extremely uncomfortable to sleep on due to malformation of the mattress – as shown below. I had two uncomfortable nights and after the second night I awoke with back pain.
On second morning I informed the receptionist that the safe in the room was already locked when we arrived and asked if was possible to have the safe opened so that we could use it. The receptionist said that she would send somebody up to rectify this problem. Nobody came to do this so I could not protect my valuables leaving me constantly worrying about leaving my valuables in the room while I was away from the hotel.
The microwave oven in the room had no plate in it which meant that we could not use the microwave.
The television provided had a line of dead pixels across the top of the screen – approximately 2.5cm in length which prevented full enjoyment of the any programs we wanted to watch.
The grey sheet at the bottom of the bed had a terrible musty smell.
The television remote control was not working due to dead batteries. For the first night I had to provide my own batteries.
