All around disappointing stay

Christine Won 05/08/2017 23:02

I was expecting such nice things from this hotel when browsing the photos online...

We arrived late afternoon. We had had a nightmare journey here because the S-bahn was closed and we had to get a taxi 41km, as you can imagine I was hot and a little tired. We were greeted in a very lovely and cool (important!!) reception. The gentleman told me the room hadn't been paid for which didn't sound right to me as i had put my own debit card against the room and I was told it would be taken out before the hotel stay... anyway, I gave my card to the gentleman and just wanted to get to the room.

When going to the room I noticed by the time we got to our floor (4) that the temperature had doubled and it was really stuffy, I just thought this was down to me being hot from the journey. Oh no... we went into the room and immediately noticed how small it was, there was about a foot of room all around the bed. We tried to find the air conditioning but couldn't... the air con turned out to be a fan. This would become the worst thing about the stay.

I checked the receipt and the gentleman charged us €100 over the room price. I was hoping things would get better at this point.

We spent a total of 5 nights there and on 3/4 of these nights I woke up in a pool of my own sweat. We tried everything to cool down over these nights but in the end I had to soak a towel and then cover myself with it. It was cooler outside than it was inside and as there was a heatwave across Europe it was reaching highs of 38 degrees Celsius. My question to the hotel is this... why is there air con installed in your reception area but not in the rooms themselves? It completely ruined my stay.

Good location + NO AIRCON for a high price

We stayed here for three nights.

●Breakfast
Our second breakfast, right after my husband finished his muesli, he noticed a short black hair in the yogurt. Please keep your BW hygiene standard?

●Room:
1 No aircon! Only a small chunky fan was provided, this 1980s way of cooling off in modern BW in a city of 34C, cant imagine! It made it hard to sleep.

2 Window shutters blocked the light very well, but then no ventilation.

●Location:
We chose here as it's a few blocks to Munich central station, easy for us to return the rental car.
Every time we walk to train station, we had to pass many beggars along the streets.
There are only turkish and arab restaurants nearby.

●Service
The front desk staff were quite helpful, told us where to buy train ticket (S1/S8)to airport.
One waitress worked in breakfast, spoke multiple languages, gave us some tourism info., very friendly.

●Price
286.74€/3 nights, in 80s' style of BW, cannot buy beer or liquor in this Turkish neighbourhood, in the city of Munich, capital of beer?
How about install some aircon before you charge the customers 96€ per night please?

Please avoid this hotel if possible.

Avoid if you want to sleep

We are at the hotel as I write the review. No A/C with 30 degree weather, and a clunky old tabletop fan. This is just unacceptable by modern standards. I just stepped into the '70's. The area around the hotel is lower end economically, just not an interesting place to stay.

Great location

Great location. Very close to downtown and train station. Redone lobby. Rooms are smallish but sufficient. There is a nice garden but you cannot bring your own food even though they don't serve food in the evening.

Accommodation near main train station

Michelle Son 31/07/2017 14:03

This hotel is walking distance from the main train station in
Munich. The property is clean and well organized as you would expect from an international chain name. Even though it is a Best Western, there was no air conditioning in the room but a fan was provided. The surrounding streets are not really pleasant but we did not feel unsafe. Breakfast is available for €14 each but we did not purchase same. The bathroom had a ledge which should have been marked with safety tape as we tripped on it every time.
