What People are saying

Amazing transformation

Debs2612on 04/08/2017 22:13

I am lucky to live within a mile of this hotel so cannot comment on the rooms but the food, that I can comment on - it is amazing! Over the past few months this place has come through an amazing transformation and emerged a swan. The new open plan setting with the view into the ever busy kitchen is a million miles from the previous version and the food that emerges from that kitchen is sublime. At £18 for 3 courses it is phenomenal value for money. Having lived in Hexham for 30+ years I can honestly say I've visited the Beaumont more in the past 6 months than I did in the previous 30 years and intend to keep going. If you're looking for great food in a contemporary setting with friendly, knowledgeable staff look no further.

At the heart of Hexham

Our SatNav announced with an air of finality, “You have arrived at your destination” – but we couldn’t see the hotel anywhere.
Our mistake, it turned out, was to assume that there would be an obvious sign on the hotel saying something like—I don’t know – ‘Hotel’, or ‘Beaumont Hotel’ or even ‘Best Western’. But there wasn’t and (as far as we know) still isn’t any such sign. So we found a parking space further along the road, and went off to find the hotel. SatNav turned out to be right – of course – and the hotel was exactly where we’d been told. The trouble was … it had been disguised as a restaurant, with tables and chairs on the pavement, and a green awning over them. On top of the awning – which wasn’t visible from the car – was the word “Beaumont”. Aahh … we’d found it.
The main hotel entrance leads into … a restaurant, with the check-in desk perhaps a little too discreetly sitting just along from the foot of the stairs. We were directed into the small hotel car park, and took the last available slot. Someone from the kitchen kindly came out to guide us backwards into the space.
Our room on the top floor was wonderfully quiet, even when – as it usually was – the restaurant was very busy. The room was spacious and newly-decorated. The food quality at breakfast was very good, with a reasonable choice. Occasionally, some staff members were a little slow at clearing used plates from the table – or delivering the hot course before we’d finished eating our cereals – but this was very much dependent on who was on duty. Some individuals were better than others.
The restaurant was always very busy on each of the five nights we stayed here. We prefer to dine quietly, and so ate elsewhere in town. During our stay, parts of the hotel were being repainted, but this did not in any way interfere with our enjoyment of the hotel. The hotel is well-placed in Hexham, and we would be happy to return.

Eating on a race track!!

Washa123on 28/07/2017 00:09

I'm sure many people have been attracted to the 'new look' Beaumont hotel and have looked forward to trying out the new restaurant and menu.....as had we!

We booked a table on a Wednesday evening and was very surprised at how busy it was!

First glance at the menu looked great and fantastic value for money. I don't know whether on this particular night there had been an issue with staffing.....but I felt as if I was sat in the middle of a race track!!! Staff constantly frantically running across the dining room and entrance between the dining areas, running up and down the stairs (twice smashing glasses in the rush of it all!)...rushing to serve your food and no hospitality at all. We waited watching our drinks order sit on the bar endlessly until we had to remind a member of staff they were there. Guests at the hotel would come and go constantly through the dining area and distract staff who were serving whilst holding food. The reception desk itself was in the middle of the additional restaurant area and seemed a highly inappropriate place to have it.

Understandably, this may be a learning curve and I hope the restaurant goes from strength to strength.........but somebody needs to have a word with the staff and remind them to be more professional as it made us feel highly uncomfortable. Won't be visiting again in a hurry unfortunately. Would also recommend reconsidering the lay out completely!!

Lovely lunch

We stopped here for lunch yesterday. Lovely restaurant, delicious food and great service. I think it has recently been done up. We would definitely eat there again. It looked like it had a huge selection of different gins but as it was lunchtime we decided to be abstemious.

Best-best western!!

We are leaving today after a three night stay to attend a wedding, Hexham is a lovely town and fab places to eat. Didn't get chance to visit the Abby in the town (will have to return) but the museums at Hadrians Wall were amazing.
Now, to the hotel, I would say near perfection! The rooms are large and airy, big T.V. You don't need binoculars to view . Clean and breakfasts to die for!!
The staff in my mind are what make this hotel, they are always smiling and saying hello, the cleaners are all local and I had a couple of chats with the odd one.
First day we had a problem with the shower the reception staff were on it immediately as it was it was a small glitch and was more down to us but they were prepared to move us there and then.
The only one and there is only one gripe is I have really bad arthritis in my knees, I'm only young-ish and hate to make a fuss, but I wish they had grab rails in and outside the bath to assist getting in and out of the shower, if I was a lot older I would have really struggled, and I hear you say why not ask for a walk in shower, but my husband is very tall 6' 8" so we have to compromise on room with king bed
Moan over! If your visiting this area this hotel the absolute best!!
