What People are saying
Extremely overrated place
me_zrhon 11/08/2017 22:30We travelled with two kids, an one-year-old and a three-year-old. To reach our room, we needed to use a tiny elevator, then go a set of stairs up, open a fire door, go a set of stairs down, open another fire door, all that carrying a child, and all the belongings we needed for the day. We had to unload the buggy and leave it at the reception. The room was so small, we could barely fit our two luggage bags. The front door to the room was uneven, had a hole at the bottom, and you could hear all the noise from the corridor. The bathroom was most likely the tiniest we have ever seen, one can barely turn, once inside. Obviously, a thick layer of paint had been put all over the bathroom, which in places started to peel off. The ceiling was mouldy.
Having a breakfast was a horror, least to say. Firstly, you need to wait to be seated, which can take very long. It also takes long to place an order (breakfast buffet contains only some toast bread, jams, honey, butter, and juice). Dirty messy tables, dirty coffee/tea cups (literally with stains inside). Inefficient staff members, only one lady seemed dedicated to her job, therefore overstressed.
No parking was available at the premises. The number of parking slots in front of the hotel is anyhow limited (no reservation possible), and the hotel decided to cut them in half by putting extra tables outside for the sake of the pride parade. A park house is available a couple of blocks away, charging the same 18£ for 24 hours as the hotel.
The Brighton Hotel is extremely overrated! Instead of staying there for two nights, one can spend a week in a nice clean sunny place for the same price, if not less.
Great Hotel
Angela Fon 07/08/2017 11:07I really liked this hotel. We arrived at 11pm after spending the day at Pride. Nicholas the night guy was brilliant, nothing was too much trouble for him. Service at fantastic and the breakfast was lovely. Rooms were great and clean.
Worst Hotel ever stayed in. Never again
phillcharltonon 02/08/2017 23:21I have stayed in better budget hotels, We arrived and checked in, went to the room to find 1 big bath towel and 3 smaller towels, asked at reception to get new towels nothing happened, we went out Friday, got back to the hotel and we took drinks to the room, we did this every night, the glasses mounted up until Monday, the bathroom had little plastic cups, I used one when I cleaned my teeth, during the day it must of fell off the sink, it stayed there for 2 days, it was never replaced or the shower products refilled,
Breakfast was not good on Saturday morning, was shown to a dirty table, the waiter wiped the table but left the cleaning fluid dripping of the side edge of the table, the table had no Cutlery or serviettes, the table with the toast on had on Side plates, no butter for the toast, Sunday morning was no better so gave up with breakfast, I know this might be picky but for the money you pay (even for parking the car) I think it should be a much better level of service, we were on the third floor, the wind on Friday evening was really bad, the noise from the wind through the windows was unbearable, it certainly wouldn't pass the feather test,
A nice place to stay
James Don 27/07/2017 19:06Stayed here for 3 nights in room 222. The room was a little on the small side but completely fine for our needs. We spent most of the day out of the hotel only coming back for getting changed and sleeping. Breakfast was good and the serving staff were extremely polite. Reception staff were equally helpful and polite too. Our room was exactly as described; clean, comfy, in good order and we had a sea view. Parking in Regency Square was a 5 min walk away, was not a problem and is probably safer and more secure than the hotel car park, which has about 8 very tight spaces at the front of the hotel. I'd use the Regency Square car park in future if I ever returned.
The hotel is an old building, so of course some floors are a bit wonky and door frames, paint work etc will look old in places. It's the same for any older building. It is part of the character and not much you can do about it.
The location is perfect for walking to The Lanes and most of Brighton's tourist attractions along the seafront.
I would recommend it to anyone who wants a base to use for a couple of days. If you want luxury and space then you are probably better paying the higher prices for those hotels.
Never again
Rutters23on 26/07/2017 14:24Stayed in 223 for two nights
Room very small with small window that would only open 4" bathroom had had tiles painted over and paint was peeling off .very small bathroom .Breakfast was very poorly cooked and not very hot . Looked at cheaper hotels that were far superior for price .
