Gaurav Don 14/01/2017 14:07Everything in this hotel is fantastic. Starting from the front office to the room service, from house keeping to the bell boy, everyone is excellent in service.
Breakfast has a lot of variety & the food is superb.
The location is slightly far but is manageable.
The only thing I do not like in this hotel is the tea they provide, which is awful. For everything else, I give a 5-star..
Kudos to the team..!!

DiptangshuHazraon 13/09/2016 14:11A mere 20 mins drive from Tatanagar railway station, takes you to Hotel Ganga Regency, situated right in the heart of the city, Sakchi. I stayed there during a weekend, early September, 2016.
I knew I would be reaching an hour or 2 early, than the standard check-in time of 12 noon, and hence called up the hotel a day prior, bidding them to make necessary arrangements.
On arrival, reception was warm, and the lady confirmed that an early check-in has been taken care of and our room was on the 4th floor. The reception, lobby area and the lifts, passages all were decorously done. Very
minimalistic, and on a you-cannot-go-wrong ‘white and beige’ combination. There were few really vibrant artwork framed on the walls at the end of the passageways.
The Room:
Ok, first surprise: The room looked smaller than what we saw in the website while booking, but it was definitely adaptable, not cramped, at all.
2nd Surprise: I had reserved an executive room which had a photo of a Queen bed, but I found that, our room had 2 twin beds instead. I called up the reception, and was informed, that rooms with queen bed are not available, at that moment. She requested us to ask the guy who had carried our luggage to join the 2 beds, instead. The guy happily obliged and did as asked, but you know, it’s never the same. Leather headboards won’t align anymore. A ridge in the middle of the bed will haunt you forever. Switchboards will become a little hard to reach. But then, we decided to not create a fuss about this, and started settling ourselves. It was hot and humid at Jamshedpur and I switched the A.C. on. Few mins later, it was still pretty hot. I went to check the AC, and found it was working. But somehow, the room wasn’t cooling easily. Top floor, I thought, and the sun was high.
Also, it dawned on me, that the AC is a Voltas one, from the house of Tata. Well, everything in Tatanagar seems to be very Tata-esque.
I could hardly spot any other cars except Indica,Indigo,Sumo on the road. Getting used to BlueStar and Daikin like insta-cooling in Office and at home, this was a little hard to swallow. But ya, anyway, after another 15-20 mins things started to cool down. The linen and upholstery looked good. A pretty painting was perched on the wall over the bed. There was ample room for storage, a mini-bar, a large side-table with a coffee maker, a mid-size LED TV, a couple of dining chairs and a small coffee table. Perfect. The washroom door was a full-length mirror. Many hotels miss out on this, due to space constraint on installing a full length mirror in the room. They utilized the washroom door instead. Smart work. The washroom was ok. Hindware fittings, anti-skid tiles. Shower area separated by curtains. Nice, big mirror. Hairdryer, shaving-kit, toiletry kit, everything prim and proper.
The tourist attractions in and around Jamshedpur was all within a 30 mins to 90 mins drive radius, and the reception gave us the contact of a Travels guy, who arranged for our vehicle for sight-seeing.
We went out in the afternoon, for a tour and came back by late evening, all drenched in the torrential downpour.
We decided to call in room-service for dinner, and found the menu to be really exhaustive. From North Indian to Chinese, Continental to Mediterranean, with hints of Thai and Bengali food, the menu looked solid. We decided to play safe and ordered a ‘Rice-noodle combo with HongKong style cooked Chicken, and boy, was it delicious.
We loved the food, and decided to call it a day. We had a comfortable night’s sleep. Next morning, we headed down to the restaurant – Gourmet at the 1st floor, and the restaurant looked lovely. We were asked about our choice of food, and we decided to have poori sabzi, fresh fruits and fruit juice. The Poori sabzi was out-of-the-world. Till date, the best aloo sabzi I’ve had in my life. I actually asked the waiter to inquire in the kitchen about the ingredients in the sabzi. We were out the whole day, and came back by evening. Being impressed with Chinese the other night and poori sabzi in the morning, I was confident now on ordering Continental/Mediterranean. We ordered Moroccan chicken (Roasted chicken stuffed with eggs and mushrooms, served with rice, salsa and fries.)
The dish was a delight to the eyes, and equally worthy to savor. Next morning, we again had poori sabzi(this time aloo matar, but again good.)The staff and room-service/ house-keeping guys were very professional and courteous. We had a very pleasant stay overall. On the day of our checking out, we had a train at 5 pm, while the check-out time was 12 noon. The lady at the reception obliged to our request for a late check-out and allowed us to keep our rooms till 2pm. Post that, friends came over and we had a sumptuous Indian lunch, ordering everything from Kashmiri Pulao to Patiala Chicken, Mutton Chettinad etc. finishing off with Hot Gulab jamun and ice-cream. While checking out, I decided, if I ever visit Jamshedpur again, I would definitely come down to dine at the Ganga Regency irrespective of stay. Yes, the food can give 3-4 star hotels in Metro cities, a run for their money. And it’s pretty reasonable. My 2 nights’ stay, plus all those mouth-watering meals for 2 was close to 5000 bucks. Sounds too good to be true, right ? I know.
Ganga Regency, you bowled me over. Thanks
