Surprised by Grandma
Nancy Pon 08/08/2017 22:26This little bandb offers very good food (Some customers arrived only for dinner; not everyone was staying at Grandma's.) We had a table at the window for both dinner and breakfast. This place is convenient to both Mendenhall Glacier and Juneau Airport. They also offer shuttle service.
Friendly staff, excellent food!
thomas Bon 07/08/2017 14:32This was a wonderful place to stay! The rooms are attractive, very clean and comfortable. The staff are professional, helpful, and kind. The breakfasts were exceptional. The dinners were good too. We stayed 4 nights and would come again!
A Hidden Gem
E1mbon 01/08/2017 23:36Gosh, I really dislike reviews that are entitled A Hidden Gem. Hidden from whom? Lots of people staying there, good ratings on Trip Advisor. So it wasn't really hidden. The only person it was hidden from was me; my wife, sitting next to me on her computer while we were planning our Alaskan adventure, said, "Found the place to stay in Juneau!" "OK," I nodded while looking at something else, glad that we could move on. "I'm sure it's nice." So upon further questioning later that night, I found that after all of her due diligence, she booked Grandma's Feather Bed because of the name. "Who could resist," my wife insisted. So most of the details of Grandma's Feather Bed were hidden, hidden from me. But did she make a great choice! As happy as we could be for a two night stay before and after our UnCruise Adventure. Managed by an extremely nice young couple, also present were Lady and Aracely working at the desk and the dining room (where the food was wonderful), and everything about it was great. A little out of town was solved by their most accommodating shuttle. Couldn't ask for anything more, and if we are in Juneau again, you know where to find us.
Stop over on the way home
rbaystonon 30/07/2017 21:24Small friendly b&b, well organized, clean and oh so comfortable. Close to the airport, about 9 miles from town, luckily a free shuttle runs to & from Juneau. The food while not gourmet is fresh, well prepared and tasty. Beats fighting fir space when the cruise lines are in town.
quaint and cozy small hotel - not a generic best western
elderlyoneson 26/07/2017 07:28must have been upgraded since the poor reviews of 2013-14
we had the room above the dining room - large jacuzzi bathroom, spacious room
very pretty and not overdone
not really a business-oriented place (no desk/chair etc)
more like a 2 story house turned into a guest house
dinner was very good (bring your own wine) and only 6-8:30
this keeps hotel quiet
also, no pets - getting harder to find really pet-free rooms
great small staff of young people
