Overnight stay to Austria
bluebirdtheonlyoneon 22/01/2017 09:10On the exit of the motorway you'll find the Best Western. No time-loss to get there. We arrived at midnight. The receptionist was very friendly and showed us to our room. The room is simple, clean and spacious. Two single quilts on a two-matrassed bed. Bathroom is small but more than adequate. The shower is spacious and delicious. A good amount of hot water.
After check-in we went to the bar which closed at midnight. We were a bit too late, but the waiter poured us a nice glass of wine and left the bar open despite him going home. Very nice after a long drive to be able to sit here.
The next morning we went for breakfast. The breakfast is buffet style. Everything is at hand.
All in all an excellent choice for a night stop en route
Stranded!
brixtondudeon 18/10/2016 15:43Stayed early September 2016. Hotel was clean and staff wre helpful and friendly. However, if you dont have your own transport - which we didnt- you can easliy get stuck. Had to walk into Alzey and rely on the kindness of strangers - thanks to Jusef and Willie- to get back. Hotel had no interest in the lack of transport. Sunday evening there was no retautrant open and no bar and no transoport.
If you have no wheels stay in Alzey as you will be trapped in the facility free Best Western You have nbeen warned.
OK. Breakfast good and bad!
skier2009on 16/09/2016 22:12I find it such a shame to assign this Hotel just 2 stars. The room was clean albeit very small. The bathroom was spotless. The staff excellent. The reception staff were most helpful. There was more parking than would ever be needed. There is even a gym next door that can be used for only 5Euros. The staff at Massa's gym are fabulous.
Why then the two star rating? Breakfast.
The breakfast staff try their best and to be quite honest they are not to blame. The problem is the lack of staff. The choice is actually quite good. Salmon one morning was a nice treat.
However, I ate my breakfast with coffee stained table clothes and dirty plates laying on the table from the previous guest every single morning. Not a pleasant experience but nonetheless for the price of this hotel tolerable. Indeed on every morning it was quite an effort to even find a free table. A free and clean table? Forget it.
What I cannot tolerate is the experience on my last morning. The day before, 3 coach loads of river cruise tourists had arrived. The hotel tried to accommodate them but there were simply too many. At breakfast they were using function rooms and all kinds to feed the masses. Where could I sit? Nowhere! There were simply no free tables. I ended up having to enter THE KITCHEN MYSELF TO RETRIEVE A PLATE. I had nowhere to sit so I had to gather all the utensils myself. I felt so sorry for the poor staff who were trying their best but were obviously rushed off their feet. The real cause of this is understaffing and an inadequate breakfast room. If it had not been for this breakfast fiasco I would have given this Hotel 3 or maybe even 4 stars. But sorry, when I am forced to eat standing up in the car park my sympathy departs.
I think the Hotel managers have some questions to answer. The staff are hard working and concienscious.

robert kon 01/08/2016 18:18Very good hotel, only 5 minutes from highway A61. Good service, nice crew and fine buffet breakfast. Only 5 minutes drive from the historical center of Alzey. Nice to walk around and plenty of opportunity to have dinner or just to drink something.
Convenient for overnight stop
Miles7000on 21/04/2016 06:18We stayed at this hotel many years ago when it was called the Massa and based on its convenient location we used it again on this trip. So glad we did.
Comfortable room, good dinner in the evening and excellent breakfast buffet.
We will stop here again
