From Schönefeld airport you just get the 162 bus and it stop just before the hotel round the corner on your left, the hotel is in a quite location, out of the way from the city at least a hr out.. probably better staying rear the center for the price of the hotel, they offer a shuttle service which you have to pay for and think it's about €25 , the room is self was very clean and tidy .. had no English channels the sky movies that is English was not working that was disappointing and the tea facilities are in the wardrobe we didn't find them til are 2nd night .. overall good hotel, nice location
A mixed review!
Rania_11on 03/01/2017 23:55First of all our taxi driver had trouble finding this hotel as there was no sign indicating it was a Best Western - we discovered this was due to them changing to a 'Golden Tulip' hotel from 1st January! Stayed here for three nights; to summarise:
- Very far from Berlin's main sights - ideally only stay here if you have hired a car. Unfortunately the train station nearby was not in use so we had almost an hour's journey on two buses (or bus and u-bahn) to get anywhere - plus an hour back :/
- We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful, printing out public transport instructions for us and being very pleasant.
- Basic but very clean and comfortable room, slept very well. Yes our room was on the main road and you could hear trams, but it was quiet and peaceful at night as was the hotel. Room cleaned every day. The complementary coffee was surprisingly nice!
- Ate at the Italian restaurant attached to the hotel and I thoroughly enjoyed it, very friendly staff (however my partner found his meal bland).
- We didn't opt for the breakfast as we thought €13.50 per person was an extortionate price; however there is nowhere in very close proximity to have breakfast.
- The old town is a short walk away and we enjoyed this; excellent cafe with the best hot chocolate and cake :) Oh and the takeaway pizza place across the road does delicious pizza!
- A tip - don't use the hotel's taxi shuttle service as they charge €30.50 to Schoenfeld airport - if you get your own taxi (the hotel staff are happy to ring this for you) it is only €20 at most.
So I've marked it as average due to the monotonous journey times to get anywhere - guess we should've done our research! And the basic feel of the hotel.
Winter Markets
Rob Won 17/12/2016 14:08Stayed here at start of December. Close to Schoenfeld airport. Bit of a commute to central Berlin where the markets are but the transit system is so efficient it didn't feel that much of a chore. Staff were exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good and the food we had in the Italian restaurant was great and real value for money. Would stay here when we visit Berlin again.
Nice, clean and friendly staff, perfect for a good night's sleep but no good if you need to be near the action
AnnMJ156on 04/12/2016 20:31We picked this hotel as it was not in the City centre and was a good choice. Rooms were of a good size, bed was very comfy, room was clean and had all you needed. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. We had dinner in the restaurant attached each evening and enjoyed it each time. Food was freshly prepared and tatsted good too. The staff were great and you weren't rushed at all. It was about an hour travel into the Centre of Berlin if you used public transport, but isn't that part of the fun? We would definitely stay here again if we went back to Berlin.
Well run hotel in pleasant suburb of Berlin
Allen Mon 23/09/2016 13:27Hotel with modern facilities and helpful staff a few minutes walk from a lovely old town, now part of the city of Berlin. Good access to public transport and has its own car-park. Very quiet at the rear, where the hotel is by the river with a path that one can walk and enjoy the peaceful view. A good hotel to escape the noise and bustle of a big city, but still be close by.
