Nice room - remote location

Having read the reviews I assumed, mistakenly, that this hotel was near the restaurants and bars of St Jean. This is NOT the case. The walk to the nearest restaurants is a long way especially if you have a heart condition - which I do. Walking back by the beach would be hazardous and scary at night and there are stretches of the road without pavements. The only option - if not eating at the hotel - is to drive and not partake of the lovely Loire wine at dinner. Forget the golf club bar/restaurant - it closes at 7.30 pm. However the hotel was clean and once we got the barmen trained up a bit - the bar service was excellent. We ate twice at the hotel and they do some very nice food and a bit thank you to Siric (head waiter) for being so patient and translating the menu for us. Staff all very helpful although we were a little concerned when the breakfast waitress tried to mend the toaster by sticking a large bread knife into it! But no one was electrocuted so that's OK.
We stayed in the area from 14th to 17th September and many places already shut for the winter. If you want lunch get to your restaurant by 1.15 or forget it!

A great holiday hotel

We booked this hotel early on in the year and with a falling heart i watched the bad reviews build up. I was dreading this holiday so much due to the bad reviews that i was having sleepless nights.

How stupid was I???

Firstly ... The OUTSIDE swimming pool. Children are allowed in this pool at anytime during the day. There are no restrictions what so ever. My children wore normal swimming trunks as did other children and grown men. Our boys spent many hours on this pool and loved it.

The staff are great!! Did what they could to answer any question. Smiled, served us politely at the bar and were just fine.

The restaurant was clean and breakfast was OK. It offered an assortment of breads, croissant, fruit, yoghurts, pancakes , ham.and cheese. Most importantly they served real coffee. No complaints. We did not eat lunch or dinner here so unable to comment.

The hotel itself is a 5 minute walk to the beach and 15 minutes to the main promenade lined with bars and restaurants. You can either walk into town by going through the back of the hotel and along the footpath at the back of the beach or along the road. We often walked in one way and back the other. Both ways are a flat easy enjoyable walk.

The rooms - There is no air conditioning bit we were told we could have a fan however we fell asleep with the balcony door open and it was very comfortable. The room we had was large. We had a bcony overlooking the pool, forest and sea. The room was for four of us (2 adults, 2 children) and was plenty big enough. My husband and i were in a huge double bed and there was a double sofa bed already pulled out for the children. We anticipated this so took a blow up single mattress for one of our children (he has eczema and figits all night, so nit great to share with) and he slept very well on it. Having this extra mattress made no.difference to the room. It was very spacious.

We had a great holiday here. The hotel is really nice, we spent alternative days at the beach or by the pool, the resort has some lovely restaurants and is great for an evening cocktail and the hotel room balconies are ideal for sitting on at night sharing a bottle of wine.

All four of us have said we would love to return and i think we probably will. I love France and i love the French peoole and this was such a fabulous holiday. Thank you x

Overpriced for level of quality and service but great location

Admittedly we booked relatively late (a few weeks in advanced) and the hotel is 3 star but felt that the price we paid was over the top compared with level of quality and service. We did not use pool or spa facilities so cannot comment on that. We had a comfort room which was very outdated and had no air conditioning. There was a nice balcony with sea view and unlike some reviews we found our bed very comfortable.
The breakfast was acceptable (bread was good) but there was a lack of basic provisioning of water, hot food items etc. one guest had ordered breakfast in his room which came without butter or coffee!! The location is great and in easy reach of the beach, promenade etc. I would not stay here again.

One of the best holidays ever

Don't take notice of the negative comments written about this hotel!

We have just stayed there for 9 days with our 4 year old and it was excellent. The hotels is friendly, clean, modern, with a great pool and restaurant. Its location for the beach and town is superb and the cycling is to die for. Some people I guess just need to get a life. This is not the Plaza Athene and nor should it be judged that way.

We were staying at Appart’Hotel Spa Atlantic Golf attached to the best western, same hotel to be honest, one reception same staff in a studio. All I can say is what a hovel, an expensive one at that. Most of the staff are rude and certainly wasn't what was sold on the website.

Luckily we were only staying over night on our way elsewhere.

Very poor quality rooms, which are v dated, strange smelling corridors and a general mish mash of furniture and strange electrics.

The only ok thing was the pool, which my son enjoyed.

I will not be here again ever !
