Disappointing to be honest
Ignimbriteon 24/07/2017 19:35Seeing the statistics on previous reviews, and the price paid, I had higher expectation on this place. Place is convenient, staff is friendly and rooms clean, but that's about it. Maybe we happened to be in Lucerne on the only two hot days of the summer, but the room was hot and stuffy (no air conditioning), and the only available beddings are winter duvets. That meant we had to be in the room with the windows open, which once resulted in a half flood during a storm, and more annoyingly was noisy at night, resulting in poor sleep quality. Minor comments are that cleaning staff forgot to give new towels and empty the rubbish bin. As I said, disappointing...
Good location but could have been a better value
MountainVAon 24/07/2017 09:19Located 10 min away from the main train station and a 5 minute walk from the chapel bridge. Clean room, sheets and bath. Free coffee maker use. These are the main pros.
The quadruple room was relatively small. There is no air conditioning. A small fan is available. Yes you can leave the windows open but...
The back of the hotel was facing a street that is undergoing some major repairs and seems to be a spot for some loud late night conversationists! Wish we had known or had a choice.
Direct booked through the hotel website for $380/night for the quad room (including the visitor tax) but no breakfast (additional 23 CHF person).
The front desk staff are a minimalistic presence but answer questions when asked.
Overall a reasonable hotel but could have been a better value.
Lovely hotel in a fantastic location
LAC1on 23/07/2017 19:50Okay, peeps -- we traveled in Switzerland in July and didn't find one hotel with air conditioning, so if that's really important to you, you'd better be very specific in your search. Hotel Krone does not offer A/C and it's in a popular location, so in the summer, when you have your windows open, it's a bit noisy. Trade off - great location or noise, take your pick. It was a bit warm, so we requested a second fan. We loved the location and the hotel was quite nice with lovely linens (not that we needed the quilts) and a large bathroom ( we were in the 4-bed family room, which, for the location in Luzerne at the height of tourist season, was a good value). The check-in was quick, although the desk guy looked like he was having a rough day - he was perfectly nice. Breakfast was great with a very good and tasty spread. The hotel has some negative reviews, but we were very happy with our stay and would stay there again.
Centrally located, good staff
techankuron 19/07/2017 20:29We are currently staying at this hotel, the location is very good. It is centrally located and close to the station. The staff is also good and checkin took maximum 5 minutes. The only thing which I think lacked is air conditioner as it's hot in July otherwise perfect.
Good location & experience
Saffia Mon 15/07/2017 22:51Stayed here with a family of 5. Hotel was very cute and the location could not have been better. It was located in the old town of Lucerne but a 5 min walk from the nice cafes and also a 7 min from the train station! Daniel at the reception was very very sweet and helpful and gave us good tips as well! Only problem was that there was no AC and it just happened to be during our stay that there was a heat wave and the hotel only had 2 large fans! 🙈 also originally my room was located on the back side of the hotel and we woke up at 6 am bec of some loud noise going on in the building opposite!! (Not the hotels work or fault but still it affected their customers.) anyway, we complained and they changed one of our rooms because only that was available. But overall great experience, would recommend and stay here again! Nice clean cute place! Also the strawberry yoghurt at bfast was too good!
