4 Stars ???
Saleem Eon 04/08/2017 15:39After cycling in from Grein with a lunch stopover in Melk under scorching heat, I was really looking forward to a bit of 4 star luxury ( had some amazing experiences in Holland btw, including in a Best Western).
The young receptionist allocated me a room that was well below my expectations - under the roof, dark, looked old and miserable. After asking for a change to something brighter and more modern, was given one on the first floor, supposedly renovated but hardly better except for a nicer view and a more modern bed. No AC, tiny bathroom and slippery shower ( need to be extra careful !)
Had I known earlier, I would have booked something in Melk, pretty town and much more to do. Definitely not worth what I paid. Wouldn't stay here again.
It was ok - nothing good, nothing bad
Billym33on 16/05/2017 15:58We stayed here for a night just so we could go to the Melk Abbey on the way back from Seefeld and going back to Vienna.
I thought that we'd be able to walk to the Abbey as it says it's only 1.2km away but the girl at reception said it was more like a 5-10 minute drive so that was a bit of a bummer. There are or was plenty of parking over there though so that was a bonus.
It also had free parking, free wifi, a bar and restaurant and views of the Danube and Melk Abbey so there were lots of positives.
The room itself is pretty small, but it is functional. It's got a smallish bathroom with a very small hard to use shower that was possibly the slipperiest I've encountered, after seeing in the hotel info booklet that we could ask at reception for an anti slip mat for the shower it appeared that I wasn't the only one. If you do stay here I'd strongly recommend you ask for an anti-slip mat!
We unfortunately didn't get a room with a view of the Danube or the Abbey but thems the breaks I guess. We went down to the bar for a drink and you could sit outside and see those views or just cross the road and you'll be fine.
We felt like we had to have dinner at the hotel as there is nothing else close by that we were aware of. The food was ok, nothing special but pretty inoffensive, I was surprised that my last night in Austria was not going to be filled with schnitzel as that was not a menu option. The meals were ok priced though so there's that.
If coming back I'd probably try and stay in Melk itself as the village was nice and small.
Hi-tech Hotel
Johannes Hon 20/11/2016 15:44Along the danube out in a small village is not really the place where you expect a high-tech hotel. High-tech hotel? This does not mean that you can reserve via internet (which you probably can) or that there is free Wifi (it is). It means for example, that you bed has an integrated massage function. Or that the bath room is equiped with a (water proof) shower radio, plus an intelligent glass wall that makes the light come true but not being see-through.
Add to this a good breakfast and a nice location on the Danube and this becomes a nice place to stay.
5 star room comfort
Lawrie4465on 01/11/2016 17:58For luxury comfort, the room facilities are excellent, in particular if you like music while in the shower! The restaurant is more traditional with, on the evening we dined, excellent banana dessert. The service is welcoming. I can thoroughly recommend.
Charming hotel
EasyTraveller841on 17/04/2016 18:42We stayed there during a business tour.
Simple and quiet place, with comfy beds. Restaurant was ok with local cuisine and food, which is tasty and well balanced. Breakfast was ok too. They also sell some local suvenirs and products. My boss forgot his shirts and they immediately contacted us for shipping them back.
