A pleasant surprise

We were initially hesitant to book the Hotel Les Gollandieres for our one-week stay in July because of some of the Tripadvisor reviews, but we are glad we went ahead. We enjoyed this small family-run place, its excellent location near a gorgeous beach, the friendly staff, and one of the best breakfast buffets we encountered during our 3 1/2 weeks in France and Italy (although quite costly, at Euro 14 p.p.).

Sure, our room, and especially the bathroom, were small but extremely functional and clean, and had everything we needed and usually like. We can see that some guests may consider the room too tiny, but one would normally not spend too much time in a hotel room in a place as beautiful and lively as the Ile de Re.

We had dinner once, which was good as well and served on the peaceful terrasse near the pool. Bike rental and ample parking were an added plus.

So in sum, with the right expecations, you will enjoy this peaceful place.

Great pool and restaurant

Very nice quiet hotel in great location. Staff are warm and friendly and accommodating. Rooms are tiny and bathroom even smaller. Thank cruise cabin size but maid service is excellent and room is comfortable. Restaurant has new menu every night and is worth a try. Food on Ile de re is generally great and plentiful. Hotel is near centre ville and marche est tous le jours ouvert. Nice location to visit other picturesque towns on island. Worth the trip.

Hello to all of you my friends,

Those of you who are nice enough to read my note are welcome, this restaurant could be one of the greats of Le Bois Plage en RÈ.
Why do I say could be ?

The food:

The dishes are well prepared, are served hot and are testy.
You will not be surprised by any of them and you will find enough in your plate.

The starters are all at the buffet, that is a great idea IF the buffet was placed in a nice area and big enough to have more than 2 guests taking some food at the same time, here again no surprise everything is good and fresh.

The restaurant:

The only issue with that restaurant is the restaurant itself, toilette are dirty and the PLASTICS is unacceptable.

The price :

At 23€ the buffet and the main dish or 27 € if you add a desert, this a very honest price considering the quality of food.
But for that price don't expect anything like outstanding French cuisine it more what we call "cuisine bourgeoise" or "cuisine de terroire".

Comfortable and great location next to the beach

The hotel is excellently situated a stones throw from one of the best beaches on the Île de Ré and has a nice pool. It's a bit basic, but clean and the staff are friendly. There's good off street parking and the place is clearly really good for small children.

Love this place. Very nice barbecue lunch in a very smart and traditional restaurant. Nice surrounding and gardens. Good quality food, nice service - difficult to disappoint. Right next door to where we are staying so a return visit is a definate!
