Hotel needs updating

We stay here often as we vist my brotherin law at hospital. The last few times I can honestly say the hotel has gone back with its standards . The rooms are lovely & clean & comfortable . It's outside where we went to our room there where cigarette ends everywhere . It would not put us off staying at the hotel again tho we did ask for a refurbished room when my husband rang up . But we did not get one

A small town village with a cosy corner on the main street the lion hotel. Comfortable room lovely reception with friendly staff and good food in the restaurant.
Conveniently located close to the city centre.

Nice clean and friendly hotel in town centre with parking on site or on public car park close by.Okay for a couple of nights if going to local sights. The hotel menu looked very nice so eating in would be a bonus.

Good Hotel Visit

Good location, nice room & great food.
Easy parking on the premises.
Restaurant used for Functions, particularly on Saturday evenings, causing slight confusion amongst Staff & residents.
Bar service slow, more Training required.

First time stay.

Arrived after a very wet afternoon to a warm welcome from reception. We were given our key to our room that was large and comfortable and quiet as we were at the back of the hotel overlooking the car park. We had dinner in the in the hotel that was very good.
After a good nights sleep we went down to breakfast with which we were very disappointed. The choice was limited due to breakfast nearing its end for the day. The full english was not freshly cooked and the bacon was dry and hard and the hash browns very very crispy. All seem to have been cooked some while before except for the eggs. The smoked haddock was very dry even though it was ment to have poached in milk but some time ago i suspect. The breakfast staff were very unfriendly and looked as they did not want to be there, and just wanted us to go as we were last two in the room. In all the breakfast was very dis appointing. Staff training required.
