Friendly Livermead Cliff in lovely location
martinu46on 01/08/2017 16:11Enjoyed our brief stay here. Excellent and helpful staff. A friendly atmosphere in a lovely location, right by the sea. Happy memories of this hotel. Would just suggest that bathroom, especially shower, needs upgrading!
dull out dated, stuck in the eightys, gloomy old fashion dull
jackie don 20/07/2017 23:26the staff were pretty good but the room was old , out dated , thought I was at my great grans old house. bath broke and tatty. really think they should listen to these reviews because I cant spell it out any plainer than this , and im not the only one , because people were all saying what a old fashion place, the windows were all missted up due to the salt from the sea, but they cauldn't have been cleaned for six months at least? we would of had a lovely sea view, if we cauld see thourgh the windows. I would only go back if they made some changes and updated the old folks home. ont worth £195 a night
Superb Location, very good staff, just needs updating a bit
Steve Pon 15/07/2017 16:57We booked here for one night, but ended up staying for 2 - really that tells you all you need to know but here is a proper review :)
The location was the reason we stayed here, it is situated in the middle of some lovely beaches, 5 to each side which are perfect for taking pictures and skinny dipping.
There is a lovely cove behind the hotel and a nice beach to the right, literally a minutes walk away.
The staff were great, very helpful and accommodating.
Even though there were things not to our liking, the place itself is perfect, and we cannot wait to go back, hopefully taking my parents next time :) We did only book 1 night but we ended staying for 2 this time around.
There is some lovely restaurants a mile away to the right overlooking the beaches and sea and just before that is a big park and an old Abbey to visit, all on your doorstep.
The downside:
The amenities are dated and need bringing up to date - There is no Aircon and it was hot outside, around 26 degrees, and the room was about 50 degrees - we got a fan off the staff but it simply was not enough to cool the room properly.
The shower/bathroom needs replacing, I have not seen a shower on hot & cold taps in a hotel like that before, it needs replacing with a proper shower unit that does not pull to the side all the time during a shower.
The rooms themselves are in need of a lick of paint and a clean behind the radiators.
Tired Hotel
mardoc2017on 15/07/2017 12:46The hotel is in a wonderful situation but is let down by its tired and dated decor. We stayed for 2 nights and booked a "Sea-view" room . The 1st night we had to go downstairs from reception to a very small room with a limited sea-view. It smelled mouldy and not fresh- very disappointing. The second night we talked to the person at the bar- namely Audrey and she was unhappy about the way we felt and kindly found us another room. It unfortunately faced the road but it was much bigger and smelled fresh. However the decor was greatly outdated with an avocado coloured bathroom suite and cracked bath panel. The room was nice and clean but I would personally not stay here again.
