The perfect Hotel in the perfect location.
Larry Son 12/08/2017 23:30The wife, me and our friends were told about this hotel by our friend in the custom travel business. We have used Bernie for years providing us with superb travel planning and scheduling. He placed the Am Badersee Hotel as the central location for visiting so many places around Grainau. He chose well. The hotel is in a secluded area next to water. One could take a stroll around the area. Beautiful setting. Great restaurant with a reasonable price. Breakfast isn't included but Bernie recommends this all important meal to start the day. The staff was quite friendly and proved that the Germans are great host. Rooms were above average but slightly smaller than the ugly American expects, but hey, super clean and nice restroom. What more could one ask for. My advice, this is a plus on the hotel side of an adventure. Well worth the price. Great location.
Simply amazing
Metueconon 08/08/2017 22:41We started at Hotel am Badersee for 2 nights during our tour of Bavaria region. My wife, I and our 3-year old daughter had an amazing time staying at this hotel and visiting the area. Hotel is located on a small lake about 300 meters off the main road and very quiet. There are ducks and trout on the cristal clear lake right in front and there are many hiking/walking paths right off the footsteps of the hotel. Windows in room had screens so we had fresh air coming in all night, which was amazing. I can't tell enough good things about the breakfast; very good selection and anything you wish for in a good breakfast. Lake Eibsee is 5 minutes drive away and so is the train stop to Zugspitze peak (2962 meters). Swimming in Lake Eibsee is an amazing experience; even thought it was August when we stayed in the area, Lake was ice cold but felt really good to jump in. Our 3-year old daughter had a blast playing with snow at Zugspitze peak. Train + Cable car to the peak costs 53 Euros per person but definitely is worth the trip up. In brief, hotel has an amazing location, super clean and quiet, and staff is very very helpful. We have had many questions and they answered in a hartbeat with smiley face. Strongly recommended if you are in the area!
Beautiful view and nice rooms
Sofie Bon 08/06/2017 09:45I stayed at the hotel for one night with my parents and fiance. No doubt that the surroundings are beautiful and the staff attentive. The rooms had no minibar which I found odd for a 4,5 star hotel. We wanted to try the wellness area but it was full which surprised us a bit but to be fair we didn“t pre-book.
I can only recommend this hotel if you want to stay in the area. We had dinner at the restaurant in the evening and that was good as well.
Stunning!!
BSF-Lxon 10/05/2017 00:25When we approached the hotel we ere already impressed by the location, so close to the Bavarian Alps mountain range. But when we got to the room, wow! What a view! We chose a lake-side room and it was totally worth it. The hotel is located a short drive from Garmisch-Partenkirchen and is perfectly located to enjoy nature, while being easily connected to visit the region. Regarding the room, it was surprisingly large, very well appointed and comfortable with a nice decoration. Breakfast was very good with a lot of choices. Staff is mostly nice and attentive, although some seem to struggle with foreign languages, but communication is never seriously hampered. We had an amazing stay and regret to only have been able to stay for two nights.
a Photographer's Paradise @ Sunrise
prashan3253on 01/05/2017 09:31Great hotel with good views of the mountains and the Badersee lake. We went there on 1st of May and even then had snow caps in the mountains. From Garmisch station (Bahnhof) you can take the Blue Eibsee bus to stop Badersee which is 5 minutes from the hotel. Takes about 45 minutes. Or you can take the 15 minute cab ride which will cost you 18 euro. Both the taxi stand and the bus stop are located oppisite the Garmisch station. If like us you are travelling to Garmisch from Fussen, then skip the train and catch the Bus No 73 from Fussen station...one of the most amazing drives you'll get through the alps mountains for just 10 euro per person. The whole route takes 2.5 hours and you'll be the only one in the Bus....and it's Amazing Views to say the least. You don't have to pay millions like in Switzerland to see the same view to Garmisch. For 10 euro per person it's a no brainer.
We arrived slightly before check-in and the room wasn't ready. So Swen the receptionist was really polite and checked us into the premier room for the same price as a standard room...really helpful and a kind gesture.
The hotel is gorgeous to say the least and set amongst some beautify Bavarian country side. They even have a spa, which i didn't know before coming. So bring appropriate clothing and don't forget like us. A Massive breakfast too....Super Hotel!
a Photographer's Paradise especially at sunrise. And also don't forget to bring your Polariser filters.
