Spacious, friendly and clean.

I'll start with what others have said, you don't need to stay in Monroe to get a nice comfortable room. I was in Bastrop for a week on business and will stay here again if I come back to the customer.

The staff was super friendly and offered advice regarding local restaurants. The room was spacious and comfortable. It was also very quiet. One evening as I walked up to my door I could tell the room next door was having a loud party. Once I was inside I couldn't hear a thing -- those walls are thick!

The breakfast buffet was tasty. The hot items were eggs and sausage and were varied day to day. The fruit they put out, apples and bananas were fresh and looked good. The coffee was actually pretty good too. When I checked in Sunday afternoon the coffee was already finished, but they made more fresh for me. As I said, the staff is super friendly.

I did have a few minor complaints.

1. The wifi was spotty in my room. If I went to the lobby it was fine, but in my room it usually would not connect. My room was down at the end of the hall, so I would guess they only have one wifi router and it's near the front desk. When I did need to get on the Internet I used my phone as a hotspot instead of the hotels wifi.

2. When I unwind at night I usually ignore the TV and computer and read a book instead. My second nit-pick is the room seemed a bit dim, even with all the lights on. All the light bulbs are the CFL type and they take a few minutes to "warm up" to full brightness. They should think about switching to LEDs, or maybe putting in a good reading light next to the sofa.

3. Finally, I don't think the cleaning staff ever vacuumed the carpet while was there. The sheets and towels were always fresh and clean, but the carpet could use more attention. I could have called the front desk and complained, but I didn't, so I guess it did not bother me that much.

All in all, I enjoyed my stay and will stay again if business brings me back to Bastrop.

Internet had a Trojan virus, there were no toiletries, and there was 1/2 of a box of condoms in the nightstand. Extremely disappointed!! Reported problems. Got toiletries on the 3rd day and never got internet. I guess when you're the only hotel in town you can get away with stuff like this.

Stay only if have too

Stayed one night. Price fair. Loud people in hallway. Room had musty odor. Parking lot, not very secure. People walking through parking lot. Late at night. Just wasn't very secure at this site. Even had kids walk into my room, thought it was their room. Don't know where their parents were. Room was clean. Breakfast, nothing to write home about. So, stay only of have too.

Do not stay here!!!! Staff was terrible, you could feel the springs in the bed, & just walking across the room my feet were black. No elevator and I had to wake up the staff to check out!!! They didn't have the room we reserved

The room was very clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful to me , very professional. We had a good experience and enjoyed our stay. Service was excellent. Breakfast is very good. We enjoyed staying here and will come back again.
