Clean rooms!

We chose this hotel based on the TripAdvisor reviews. We found the hotel average for our two night stay. It was very clean, as other reviewers mentioned. Our room definitely needed updating, which we were told would be happening later this year. We also had to hold the curtains together by putting our suitcases in front to hold them together. We asked for a quiet room since we are older, but we were told that all rooms with two beds face the road. That was disappointing! Yes, we heard the traffic all night. The one saving grace was the fact that the air-conditioner was very noisy, so it blocked out some of the traffic sounds. The noise from the hotel was limited, but the traffic noise is still there. It was very hot when we were there, so please note that there is not an elevator and the hallways are not air-conditioned. It's my understanding that good hotels are limited in this area, therefore, a clean hotel was pleasing.

Stayed here due to a Funeral

There are only a few hotels in Alpena to choose from, so they have higher rates due to that (I'm guessing), and this Best Western is one of them. I was honest and told them I had 5 people in the room (I have 4 kids), so just be aware that there is an additional charge of $6 per night per additional person and if you want a cot (which you need), there is an additional $6 per night for the cot. Seems to be a hefty amount. The rooms were clean, but the hallways are not air-conditioned, just in case you are there on a really hot day. It was HOT when we were there! We had the breakfast, which was fine....hard-boiled eggs are the egg choice, but no sausage or bacon. There's a Walmart across the street, which is convenient. The outside of the Best Western is not much to be desired, but the inside seems to have been updated nicely. There's an indoor pool which my kids used. Overall, it was an ok stay....not sure if I would pick this hotel again. Thank you.

Only one problem

We got a good nights sleep and had a decent breakfast. Glad to see that there was some protien in the meal. The room was clean and well furnished. Hotel staff were friendly. our only disappointment was that there was not an elevator to our room.

Amazing value and perfect location

This is the 2nd time staying here and I would highly recommend it. The location is perfect, convenient and easy to get to. There are stores and restaurants within walking distance. The rooms are spacious and very very clean. The staff is amazingly friendly and helpful. The breakfast is very good, constantly stocked with fresh items and a wide selection. I will continue to return to this hotel each time I am in the area.

Nice, clean place

Nothing fancy, but this was a nice, clean place at a very reasonable rate. Cindy at the front desk was friendly and great to talk to. Fridge & microwave in room with nice high shower heads for tall people. Standard breakfast, though did have biscuits & gravy that not all hotels offer.
