What People are saying

Excellent Value For Money

Susan Jon 06/07/2017 13:13

My partner and I stayed end of June to start of July 2017 for 1 week.

The rooms were lovely, spacious, modern and most importantly clean. The roof top where the bar is is well kept and again clean. Showering facilities, 1 shallow pool, a decent size larger pool and Jacuzzi. There was never any fights for a lounger or seats as there is plenty provided.

Couple of criticisms of the pool area are, there appeared to one person working both bars, one on the ground floor and one in the pool area, so the pool bar was sometimes not manned for 30 or so minutes. it would also be nice if the rooftop area was open a night during the week as you get lovely views of the city and the beach.

The food is not brilliant so i wouldn't opt for anything more than bed and breakfast. We stayed half board and ate out every night as it is so cheap. The food is not amazing.

All in all a lovely hotel, very clean and great location. 1 minute walk to the beach.

Great location - great atmosphere

I Really did not know what to expect upon arrival - I was positively surprised. My friend and I arrived past midnight, after a long day of travelling and I believe the receptionist could tell. Check-in was quick and efficient. Breakfast was really good and the location of the hotel was great! Super close to the beach and only a shirt walk from the city center and the harbour.
The staff was amazing - always smiling and helpful. They even surprised is with Champagne for my birthday which was celebrated there.
I have absolutely nothing to complain about in regards to this place, and I would definitely recommend it to others. I will be there if I ever go back that is for sure!

I really wanted to like this hotel.

Where do I begin.

Upon arrival we found out our room was on the seventh floor, so surprising to us having read other reviews we had a great view of the harbour. However I understand that most rooms don't have a view at all so be aware.

The room itself looked very nice, the TV was small and the channels limited for British viewing, but lets be honest that's not what you care about on holiday. There was a fridge/mini-bar but I could not seem to get it to work. The air-con did work well, it took at least an hour to come up to temperature though. The wifi also worked quite well despite some minor connection issues. The bathroom was nice, clean with basic amenities, however upon using the shower the floor soaked with water. Mostly though we were happy with the room.
This is when problems began. I spoke to the desk to have the iron brought up to the room, they were courteous and efficient. When ironing my white shirt I noticed several yellow stains, which had come from rust on the iron, thus ruining my shirt, it's not difficult to keep such things clean, the ironing board also was very small and difficult to use.
The rooftop balcony was spectacular, although for whatever reason it's only open from 12pm to 6pm. The rooftop bar was NEVER open, despite being advertised across the hotel as such. Also there was a 'watch the sunset' advert stating that on Fridays and Saturdays the rooftop was open until late, except that it wasn't, with no explanation ever given.
Do not use the rooftop pools/Jacuzzi if you value your own personal hygiene. They were filthy, didn't look like they had been properly cleaned in months. The Jacuzzi also wouldn't Jacuzzi, i.e there were no bubbles.
We tried to forget about these problems by using the sardine can size sauna, however this was also not working at all, with no signs or previous declarations as such.
In addition there were no staff present on the rooftop, a health and safety issue, not that this hotel cared much about such matters.
The staff in general however were quite friendly and helpful, although the maids seemed very lackadaisical when it came to cleaning and tidying the room. Despite leaving the please clean room card out, we often came back in the early evening to find out nothing had been done.
The breakfast was plentiful if not quite plain and boring, after the second day we stopped having it. It wasn't bad just not great, a lot of options but not of the highest quality especially when it came to the juice.

Overall, I am not quite sure how this hotel is still 4 stars, I imagine it was 10 years ago but it has a very tired feel. Its proximity to the beach was one of its few redeeming qualities. However for the price paid against what is provided, this hotel is not worth a second stay, it needs some serious tlc.

City centre, but close to beach

We enjoyed our week of fine & sunny weather in Las Palmas, and were happy with most aspects of the Cantur Hotel. The breakfasts were excellent, with plenty of choice for all tastes, including vegetarian and vegan. Everything was freshly prepared & the containers were frequently refilled. The room was adequate, without being luxurious. The air conditioning worked well & the bed was very comfortable. The wifi was a bit intermittent & only had signal at one end of the room. The tea/coffee & kettle were a welcome extra, but this is not mentioned in their publicity, so we needlessly brought our own. A big bonus was the bottled water replenished daily for free. The fridge was also very useful. The bathroom was ok, with a good shower, but a few items need some attention, e.g. a loose toilet lid, a slightly leaky shower door, etc. Just small stuff. The staff are friendly & helpful, with good English skills. We both liked the atmosphere & would certainly recommend the hotel.

Good location, evening meal was poor

Stayed at this hotel for 6 nights. Good location and hotel clean. Breakfast was fine, but the evening meal was poor, same thing for 6 nights, 1 stew, 1 potato dish and 1 fish dish. Hardly anyone ate in the hotel at night as good cheap restaurants locally. Hotel staff pleasant and helpful, had an issue with getting enough clean towels and milk each day as well. Location is great for beach, but as its on a main street it is very noisy from traffic noise
