Nice hotel, some points for improvement
JSVVon 20/08/2017 00:56The Bellevue is a Jugendstil building with many old details, very nice. My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights early August.
The good: 1. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. 2. The location at the river is excellent. 3. Nice touch: email before arrival with hints and tips for day trips.
The points for improvement: 1. the Chopin restaurant was closed during our stay and this wasn't made clear to us beforehand. 2. The wifi in the hotel is very iffy, speed in our room varied from zero to 4 Mb/s depending on time of day and where you stood in the (bath)room; in the restaurant almost all access points are using the same channels, causing a lot of interference. 3. The parking garage must be reserved ahead of time, again not something unknown to us.
Our room was at the back. One morning we were woken up at 06:30 by the racket made by people in the street below, who were (un)loading heavy items; this went on for some 10 minutes. Our room itself was very hot and stuffy, because there was no airco, only a fan; the ventilation in the bathroom was non-existent which caused lots of humid air to to escape into the room after taking a shower. We couldn't leave the door to the balcony open during our absence as there was no safe separation between the balconies of the neighboring rooms.
We enjoyed our stay, but I think the price/performance ratio is not optimal, I stayed in better hotels for less money.
Excellent facilities & service
Pete Jon 15/08/2017 00:19Great accommodations in an outstanding hotel. We had a great view of the river and the room was very quiet. There’s even an elevator with a leather bench seat in it for those with disabilities; or just tired. Everyone we met spoke English and they were very friendly. The food was very good. Everything in the rustic German town is within walking distance. Though by American standards the cost would be considered mid-range, but the hotel would be considered luxury or close to it. I highly recommend this hotel.
Fabulous Rhein view from family room
JRAS-GDSon 11/08/2017 00:08Our room had a larger balcony at the front of the hotel overlooking the outdoor cafe/restaurant of the hotel and the Rhein. What a lovely balcony. There was a sign warning guests to turn off the room lights at night before opening the door to the balcony due to the bugs that are attracted to the light. We followed the instructions and had no problems with bugs. We didn't even see any bugs near the outdoor lights when we sat on the balcony sharing a bottle of wine after dinner while our kids watched a movie inside.
The room was a nice size and clean. Bathrobes were provided.
We used the indoor pool with our kids (ages 6 & 7). They loved it. My husband used the sauna (you need to tell the front desk to turn it on about 15 mins before you want to use it).
The car park was about a block down the side street with smaller parking spaces that are typical in Europe.
Excellent hotel with lovely personal touch
Catherine Eon 07/08/2017 10:21We really liked this hotel. Nice pool and big lovely room with river view. Great outdoor bar to the front in a lovely setting. Staff were friendly and gave us a bottle of wine and flower because it was our wedding anniversary. Would recommend
Lovely classic hotel
Max Con 05/08/2017 14:17Stayed there for one night on the recommendation of a friend. Very friendly, English speaking, reception staff. Good sized secure hotel parking garage. Nice spacious room with beautiful river & valley views. We ate at the Bristol Restaurant from the fixed price menu and enjoyed an excellent and very good value meal with a bottle of local wine. Breakfast also good with a wide choice of options. Would recommend this hotel and will definitely go back again.
