Nice Hotel With Some Issues
Lacie2007on 16/07/2017 12:30I stayed there for 2 nights. It's in an excellent location right off the 440. It's only 10 minutes away at the most from Duke Raleigh Hospital. There is enough parking. The front entrance area outside is clean with only a couple of cigarette butts on the ground. The front desk clerk, Elizabeth, was wonderful with a big smile. They have a nice business center. The inside entrance is setup differently, but was very clean. The room was very clean and had a nice big business desk to put your suitcase on. The room has excellent room darkening shades. The bed is very comfortable, but all the pillows are way too big and too poofy. The WiFi is fast. The TV remote was very slow to respond. The fridge was nice and cold, but the microwave was stained and smelled. The bathroom is nice and the toiletries they give you are nice. The a/c is excellent. The ironing board was clean, but could use a new cover and the iron leaked water on my clothes. I did report that when I checked out. The breakfast is nice, but the eggs both mornings were very dry. They tasted like they had been previously frozen. They are also lacking a selection of milks. Overall it's a nice hotel at a fair price. No place is perfect. I would stay here again.
We were there for a concert at the Walnut Creek Amphitheater
juliakathrinson 23/05/2017 04:51The check is process was okay, but we had to wait for out room because it wasn't ready. We chose to drive around Raleigh for a bit instead of waiting. The room was clean and well kept. The surrounding grounds and outside front of the hotel was kind of sketchy with a group of men doing construction of some sort standing outside smoking cigarettes. Very disappointed in the breakfast, My previous experiences with Holiday Inn Express in other areas was better regarding the food. Close to the venue so that was good. Close to local restaurants which was also a bonus since we had to wait for check in. Overall I would give this a 3. We are not luxury travelers by any means, but travel often. I prefer the basics, a clean room and food for the day. Not worth the 118 dollar we paid for the trip
Nice Hotel, weird entrance
Souljagirlteeon 11/05/2017 16:06This hotel is actually nice and clean. Front desk was very helpful and customer service oriented. However, the entrance to the hotel is weird. If you miss the entrance and you will have to make two u-turns. There is a barrier in the middle of the New Bern that does not allow for you to turn in the hotel. There are plenty of fast food joints in the area. You may want to venture out for the better places if you don't want fast food.
Nasty attitude
Mary Son 22/04/2017 14:00My company normally use this hotel. After a long day and night I went to the hotel to secure my rest and I was told we have no rooms due to basketball teams in town. However, we have a suite with attitude but I must first check with my boss. Indian women I guess is the owner comes in and immediately she says no way and walk off. Spoke with one of the workers and her response was, don't let them talk to you any kind of way. Go back to where you came from your attitude makes it bad for the good Indian people.
Good option but a tough location for traffic
jeffsm5111on 04/04/2017 16:49This is a fairly good Holiday Inn Express property. The interior is well maintained, and the breakfast, while adequate, is very basic (and, as noted by at least one other reviewer, seemingly lacking some options I have observed at other Holiday Inn Express locations, such as the cheese omelettes).
My room was fairly quiet, but I can certainly understand that the noise from New Bern Avenue could disturb those in rooms facing the highway. The biggest challenge I noted is the traffic pattern near the hotel: one can turn into the hotel only when heading East (towards Knightdale). To return to I-440, one must first turn right from the hotel and then reverse one's direction on the divided highway by either negotiating a U-turn at the light at Trawick Road (easier in off-hours than at rush hour) or making a few more turns.
