SAD
venetianbdon 04/06/2017 13:57My Mother and I recently visited Ripley for a family reunion. She had stayed here when the hotel was a Best Western several years ago. She had always had a pleasant experience there, and was looking forward to a comfortable stay. That was not the case this time. From the second we walked in to check in, it was obvious that something was wrong. It didn't look clean and smelled strangely. We had two upstairs rooms. Since there is no elevator, we had to climb the rusting out stairs to get to our rooms. Each room smelled of some sort of cheap air freshener, with the underlying scent of mothballs. You want to be knocked over by the smell of mothballs? Try the "vending room." In Mom's room, the recliner was broken and leaning against the wall to one side. Her bathtub smelled moldy, and did not hold water...if she had even wanted to bathe in it. In my room, besides the "smell," my bedspread had numerous small burn-type holes in it, and I did find blood on a pillow case and pillow. Every piece of furniture and the carpet was old and scuffed or torn, and the room just was not cleaned well at all.
Ripley deserves so much better than this...so sad.
Horrible Stay
Cathy71744on 28/05/2017 23:30I had stayed here in the past when it was Comfort Inn and though not fancy it was clean. This hotel has deteriorated so bad since my last stay about 5 years ago. The carpet was torn and the room reeked of urine and moth balls. The air conditioner sounded like a jet plane taking off. My room was filthy. My aunt and cousin also had rooms there and had the same experience. The only difference was that my cousin found blood on his pillow. It's the only hotel in Ripley. The next time I have occasion to visit I will stay at nearby New Albany .
Spent three nights.
Bill Won 21/05/2017 21:40Came back to room second day and watched a snake slither under our dresser. The lady on duty was helpful and together we located the snake and I killed it. The door didn't fit properly and the snake went through the gap. She informed owner and we were told the door would be fixed. It never was. We were given a roll of packing tape and encouraged to try to cover the gap up. When I talked to either the owner or whoever was working the desk prior to our last night, I was told the only compensation they could offer was a $20 discount. We were also told that a much larger snake had been found in the vending area. They offer a meager breakfast but there is only seating for six people. Don't waste your time and money on this place. The only other place in town looks even worse. If you must visit Ripley, stay outside of town and drive in.
Going down
T7473YGmatthewpon 24/11/2016 11:24This hotel has completely gone down hill over the last few years . The rooms are dirty yet sprayed heavily with air freshener to cover up everything. The water taste like pure chlorine. And the prices keep going up.
Sleep in your car
