What People are saying

Good hotel but you need to book parking

Alison Jon 19/08/2017 18:25

I stayed on business and was disappointed to find out on arrival that as i'd not booked parking despite spaces being available I couldn't then reserve. I was directed to a multi storey about 15 min walk away - not ideal for any one with mobility issues - but the number of flights of stairs at the hotel wouldn't be suitable for the less mobile either. Rooms were small but comfortable although very warm if aircon not used. Breakfast was very good, and the staff very friendly. All in all s decent hotel but you need to book parking in advance.

Pleasant old fashioned hotel in easy reach of the castle

I stayed for a weekend here when singing at St George's Chapel which was only 7-8 minutes away on foot. My single room was small but clean and I had everything I needed. The room was approached by a rather narrow and unattractive corridor but otherwise I had no complaints as the public spaces downstairs have been attractively refurbished. We found the staff, especially on reception when we first arrived, very friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble. We ate dinner in the hotel and enjoyed good food chosen from an appealing menu. Breakfast was comprehensive and available earlier than the stated time. All in all, an enjoyable and good value place to stay in Windsor and much more memorable than one of the big chains.

Perfect location in Windsor

We booked a small double, which was more than adequate for two adults. Had everything we needed, bathroom, TV, kettle. We decided to walk in to town for a night cap, and it was a simple 15 minute walk to the centre of town. Plenty of pubs and eateries to choose from. Stopped in to the Wetherspoons for a quick G&T. Breakfast the following morning had plenty to choose from, continental or full English, etc. Fruit, juices, cereals, nicely presented. Would stay there again. There is a bar in the hotel, but we did not use it, for no reason other than we wanted to get out for a walk.

Great Independent Hotel but needs Fine Tuning

Stayed here for 3 nights 31st July 2017 and loved its location right next to the Long Walk and 15 minutes slow walk from Windsor Castle. On entering the place we were greeted by a nice Reception Girl and check-in was Swift and Direct. On entering the room we found it to be a little smaller than the average hotel room however we were made aware of this when booking so for us and the fact your not really in your room alot other than to sleep and shower it wasn't a problem. Bathroom was Very clean as was the Towels ect. Bedding was clean and comfortable pillows along with the bed. Very fresh smelling room too so was happy with that. We had a meal the 1st night in the hotel restaurant and was pleasantly surprised at how nice the Fish was and fast service. The 2nd evening however the food was slightly undercooked so I declined it and sent it back to the kitchen I can't stand the sight of blood coming out of undercooked meat well chicken livers to be precise. This surprised us because the evening before was A1. My partner had chicken cesar salad which he sent back because there was anchovies in it and he dosnt like them. Now this was totally our fault for not reading the menu fully my partner is registered blind so he relies on me to read food descriptions out ect and I totally missed the Anchovies on the menu. As we sent the meal back we were approached by a Quite Stern and I can say it slightly demanding server who advised us that the food still needs paying for because it's our fault. I did explain to her that if she had given us chance to Say it's totally our fault and of course we will pay for the food before she sternly reminded us we were at fault it wouldn't have had me putting this review on. A little customer service training can go a long way when your paying £90 a night and around £60 for meals with drinks. We paid the bill then headed out into Windsor Centre to get a meal. Breakfast was rely good and great selection of Cereals, Juices, yogurts, then a cooked breakfast if desired cooked to order. Quality Sausages and bacon. On one of the mornings I asked if they could put a few more mushrooms on my plate as they were very sparce the previous mornings and this they happily did. On checking out we were handed our bill and 75p had been added to my account for the extra mushrooms I mean is it really worth upsetting good paying guests who's willing to pay the high bar prices whilst staying in the hotel and with the view in mind that we are retuning again Sept, and Oct. 75p is nothing but it's a principle thing here. My partner only had poached eggs for breakfast so I could of ordered his with mushrooms and Simply taken his. On summing up we stay in hotels all over the world and always try our best to stick with independents but if this particular one does silly things like I've written they will be wondering why there customers will be using the Travel Lodges and Premier Inns again. All told with meal and drinks we spent over £600 in this place for a 3 night break sorry £600.75p..

Perfect

What a great find. First time in Windsor for the races. This hotel though it is not in the middle of the town it only a short walk into the centre.

Hotel staff were very friendly. We arrived early, the room was not ready. We went for a walk leaving the car keys with the staff. On our return they had took our luggage to the room.

The room was cosy and clean, had all the amenities we needed. The price we booked the room for was justified.

Great stay, would stay again.
