What People are saying

Don't

It's a glorified Motel 6. There's another Best Western across the street; might do better there.
Interiors are fine. Exteriors with "park outside room" format look like low-grade 1950s "no tell" motel.

Pretty Sweet!

Upon check in they told me that the hotel was overbooked and that we have been upgraded to their suite... which is an amazing two story house with 3 bed rooms, large living room, kitchen and more. This was a huge surprise... especially for my son. He got to sleep in his own room upstairs with a tv.

In addition to all the room, there were a ton of places to hide for hide and seek. He loved that! Lol.

Nice, clean place with friendly staff.

Also a great indoor pool with a very large hottub and a very nice outdoor pool.

Breakfast was good in the morning.

They have the best "business center" set up I have seen that includes two Mac computers in the lobby.

Sunset Inn- thanks for choosing us for the upgrade. Next time we are in Cody, no question, we'll be back to see you!

Better than expectes

We have a large room with kingsize bed with separate area with another queen. Fridge and coffee machine (no tea). Beds comfy. I knocked off a star because the breakfast buffet area was so darn small and lousy tea selection - but then this isn't a tea drinking kind of area. Wifi is reasonably fast. Indoor and outdoor pools, guest laundry all fine. Very close to the rodeo and the wild bill museum. Highly recommend it!

You'll pay FULL Price for a Broom Closet

Boykidon 05/08/2017 02:49

Totally got ripped off staying at this joint. I was charged the full price for a room that was little more than a broom closet. Ok, so there's some hyperbole on the room size there. But when you nearly have to step into the tub in order to get around the door to use the toilet because the sink and counter take up space too, then you have a REALLY SMALL BATHROOM that you paid premium price for. SuWEET! So glad I could contribute to the owner's pocketbook by getting THAT room - which probably WOULD NOT BE A GUEST ROOM IN ANY OTHER BEST WESTERN. The room itself was pretty damn small. Barely enough room for a table, two chairs, a credenza with TV on top and fridge below and a twin bed that I was told was a queen when I booked. Absolutely NO SPACE TO OPEN UP YOUR LUGGAGE. Add to that a shortage of outlets (count only one that you could easily get to if you didn't want to move furniture) to charge your electronics and you have what I paid top dollar for at BW Sunset. In the end I got a place to sleep and clean up, so they fulfilled their end of the bargain. They just didn't let me know I'd be assigned to a modern day version of Jonathan Swift's Lilliput.
But where BW Sunset really falls down during the summer, and I've seen it before because I've stayed there during the summers before, is the free breakfast they offer as part of the Best Western chain. They are so woefully unable to accommodate the 150+ guests they have every night (don't forget the kids) who wake up hungry during the summer and want that FREE BREAKFAST they were promised when they made their reservations; that you are far better off checking out and going somewhere else for a REAL BREAKFAST. And to tell you the truth, that probably wouldn't bother BW Sunset a bit. They have minimum seating and the bare basics of the breakfast Best Western tells them to provide. Get in a long line if you want a hot breakfast, waffles or toast. Hope you like onions and peppers in the mini "omelets" you get for your egg choice and the paper-thin bacon they offer. So worth it! There's a good chance they'll be out of cups for juice or coffee or both when you go to get yours. And watch out because there will be an ant pile of kids running through, back and left or right trying to get what they want - and they won't be Chinese Bus Tourists who are total locusts at this place - I know because we were at BW Sunset last year when two buses of them spent the night. Bié dǎng wǒ lù de měi guó lǎo - yeah, nobody speak English, while adults try to get some chairs at the eight tables they have in there. BW Sunset simply does not have the facilities to accommodate all of the people they book over night. Oh they'll tell you that you can go over to their gazebo to sit and enjoy your breakfast, but nobody was doing that when I was there.
We only stayed here to get the points our BW Rewards Card offers, but after this last insult we won't be staying here again. Far too many other motels in Cody to stay at that won't cheap you out, and I have a Holiday Inn Rewards Membership too. Stay here if you want. It is clean and the property is nice. You'll take your chances with getting a decent room for the premium price you'll pay, and then you'll have to fight for your "included hot breakfast" in the morning. If that don't bother you, cool. Just remember: YOU CAN DO BETTER IN CODY.

Helpful staff at check in

Would recommend this for a break in an otherwise long drive. Great to break up the trip and good for for a history stop
