Worst service ever !! Robbed of a room here !
mh050on 02/08/2017 00:29I booked a motel for one night for July 28th at the swords inn located in Bancroft, Ontario. We checked in at two p.m. but we did not go to the room until after dinner. Within the first 20 minutes in the room my one year old found unknown drugs on the carpet. It was clear that the carpet was not vacuumed. When I went to the front desk to notify them of this issue. They rudely stated that there was nothing they could do and that where was no cleaning staff working that night. They refused to clean the room or give another room and then refused to refund the money because it was third party booking although we used their web page to book it. They came up with multiple excuses and lies and were not helpful at all and just said the manager/owner would be back in a couple days from vacation. We couldn't stay in a dirty room that wasn't safe for the children. We checked out that night with no help and no refund. The manager/owner was suppose to call us but refused to call or speak to me. When I went back a couple days later when he was suppose to be back from vacation, he still was not there and we were given more excuses and lies telling me they offered us a different room, which they did not. Over all worst experience at a motel. We were basically robbed, our credit card was charged without the service.
Nice accommodations in downtown Bancroft
GreekGoddess69on 27/07/2017 03:16First stop on our motorcycle trip. Establishment gives a discount to motorcyclists which was a nice surprise. Price was acceptable for location. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Clean, small rooms, poor layout for watching TV from bed. Spotty internet.
Walking distance (across the street) to a great family restaurant (Vito's) as well as groceries, pharmacy and downtown attractions.
All in all a good experience and would stay there again.
Ouch!
TinaMarie80on 04/07/2017 16:11We are a young couple who decided to spend 2 nights and 3 days in cottage country for the Canada Day 150th long weekend. We chose Bancroft as a hub to stay and booked at the Sword Motor Inn because it was in our price point, available, and centrally located. The inn didn't look nearly as nice as the pictures show, but that didn't bother us too much as the room appeared neat and clean. The reason we didn't have a good experience is because we found the bed so unbelievably uncomfortable (as did some other guests we overheard complaining in the parking lot). While the sheets were fine, the mattress was brutal. It was lumpy and hard and you could feel every single movement of the other person. Neither of us slept for 2 nights, which left us exhausted during the days. We contemplated sleeping in our car both nights, that is how much pain the mattress caused us. Other than that, the place was fine for the price. We plan on visiting Bancroft again in August but will have to find somewhere else to stay, even in a neighbouring town, as we can't put our backs through that again.
Renovated partly - good location
barrhavenlovesthesunon 28/06/2017 02:57I've stayed here a few times over the years, most recently a couple of months ago. This time I was given a renovated room - new carpet and AC/heat, bathroom looks to be slightly upgraded. The carpe let change really makes it look cleaner. Wifi was spotty. Looks to be a new tv in the room. Staff at the desk were very pleasant. Room is quite small but good for a night. When booking a room, call the hotel directly to book the room charge will be significantly less. Websites charge significantly more for this hotel - call or email the hotel direct!
Ate dinner at Vito's across the street, it was good.
Hotel is walking distance from the main town activity.
Comfortable and Neat
Jeff Mon 08/06/2017 22:06For a familiar, comfortable stay in Bancroft, I can recommend the Sword Motor Inn. The rooms are tidy, comfortable and come with Wi-Fi, widescreen TV, microwave, fridge and efficient heating/cooling units. The front-desk staff were friendly and went out of the way to follow-up and make sure a dropped Wi-Fi service came back on line and I was reconnected. The rooms are a little pricey (think Comfort Inn at Marriott rates), but would I stay there again? Yes, without a doubt.
