Amazing food and very friendly staff
tatoemonkeyon 25/07/2017 16:29We checked in and the room was nice but the bathroom was a little dated decoration wise that said everything worked and worked well too. A very nice hot shower and it was all spotlessly clean too. After getting back to the hotel a little late for dinner and absolutely soaking and covetd in mud we were given a menu told order your food then go get dry and changed if you want to we will cook your meal and will wait for you to get back to your table or call your room when its ready. A shower and a hot meal. The portions are generous and this is some very good home cooking! The staff were so lovely we had a bit of car trouble too and they just made everything ok. Bed was a little firm for us but that's personal preference to be fair. Can't fault this place and I would definitely stay here again and we are two fussy ladies!
Drab, dull and in need of help
CottonKing1on 22/07/2017 05:12Really disappointed in our stay. The hotel is in desperate need of a makeover. There is a horrible smell of damp which given the number of automatic air freshners going off in the corridors I suggest the hotel is trying to mask, however the horrible smell is still there. The bed was appalling, I could feel the bed springs coming up underneath the sheet. We were so disappointed we didn't bother with breakfast so cannot comment on the food. Plus point, the lady on reception was pleasant.
Nothing special and dated
THutsUKon 12/07/2017 23:23So, after driving around the village for ages, calling the hotel and being told that it 'might be on my left or right off the man road' I finally stumbled across it.
Despite it being past 11pm, the lady at the check in was friendly and helpful.
To be blunt, I was expecting more. The rooms were spacious, but very dated and had that fusty 'the carpet has seen more action than me' smell.
For sone reason my bed was the fold down from a wardrobe sort - but was comfy enough.
The shower was electric, but was actually fine.
The main gripe was that the walls were paper thin.
I'll stay at the premier inn a couple of villages over next time.
Compass Inn
geoff lon 11/07/2017 07:12Comfortable, spacious bedrooms & good breakfast. Bathrooms quite dated but clean - bathroom lighting poor. Hotel in a good location for visiting Bristol, Chippenham, but lounges & general areas in need of updating/ re-decorating. Due to this we felt our stay was a little over priced. We waited a long time to be served coffee in the lounge!
Evening meal with family/friends
Geoff Aon 09/07/2017 20:56We were a party of 4 for an evening meal. Staff were very efficient and polite. Food was great - spot on for what we needed with a great selection. We sat in the extension bit which was a little warm (but wasn't everywhere!) - fascinating grape vine grows across the ceiling which is a bit of a talking point.
