What People are saying

Convenient and friendly hotel

The BW Stuart is well placed in the city in a quieter area but convenient for the station and a short walk to the shops. Good place to stay for a leisure break. There isn't air conditioning in all rooms which can be a disadvantage.

Well kept hotel, friendly staff, good value.

Stayed one night on business. My room looked like it had recently been refurbed and was welcoming and comfortably. I had a meal in the bar which was good value and breakfast which was again great value at £9.95. Friendly staff and couldn't fault the hotel. Good central location and parking included.

Cheap couple of days away

We stayed here for a couple nights on a Groupon deal and upgraded to executive double room on arrival. Plenty of free secure parking on site. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. We had room 128 on the ground floor. No lifts here. The room was very spacious with a king size bed, ample wardrobe, armchair and sofa. Bathroom was clean although a bit "tired". The first night was an absolute nightmare as one half of the bed creaked like you would not believe. Mentioned this to reception the next morning to see if we could move or get the bed fixed. Got back in the afternoon and maintenance had fixed it. Result. Even had a follow visit from the maintenance guy. Breakfast is a little slow as you place your order and not buffet. The location of the Stuart is ideal for town, bars and restaurants. Only a short walk to the Railway Station. I would stop here again. Its no fault of the hotel but it can get a bit noisy in the corridors with people returning in the early hours or getting up early for breakfast but this is down to the inconsideration of other guests which you will get anywhere.

Not the best best western

Food was average had the mixed grill or mixed gristle as it turned out to be. Breakfast is good but very tight on portions. Rooms are good but shower is definitely not a power shower it takes ten minutes to warm up then an hour to get wet. Rooms are sweltering hot have stayed here 3 times over past two weeks an had no sleep. They have fans but the noise keeps me up. A really nice place an nice staff but for a contractor it not greatest . Also no lift so be prepared for a tab to your room and internet is terrible

Three night stay

Recently stayed at this hotel, on a group on deal. Hotel was clean and close to city centre. Rooms were very hot, but fan supplied and with windows open , was OK. I mentioned to reception that internet was not working in my room, on second floor as soon as I arrived. Was told, it is fine on his phone in reception, said he would get it looked at. This went on for my whole stay, me complaining to hotel staff that we had no internet as advertised in our room. Managed to use all of my data allowance whilst staying there. The feeling I got was the staff need a damn good shake up. Customer services leaves a lot to be desired. Which is a pity as hotel is quite nice, and would be so much better if staff were more acceptable to customer comments etc. Also to charge £10 supplement for a Saturday night is a cheek, as we got disturbed nurmerous times by drunks coming back to there rooms, because internet was not working, phone also did not work so could not call reception to ask for someone to come up to sort the noise out.
