Great value !
_corkycoobagson 09/08/2017 10:46My son and I stayed here for 3 nights. It's a big hotel, we had twin room and it was a good size, ensuite too. Room service is available at no extra cost and the food was lovely. The staff were great, lovely swimming pool, the gym is good too. The only down side is the rooms need a bit of re decorating, the ensuite could do with being updated too. There were quite a few cobwebs around the hotel too and some dusty looking surfaces and a few spiders. BUT it is 3 stars and for that rating you don't expect perfection. The beds were clean and comfy, the toilet and sink clean too. Also there is no lift so be aware if you have mobility issues. I would definitely stay again.
Best Western - somewhat mediocre
catoneillon 09/08/2017 09:00A mix up over a requested early check in meant that I arrived at the church at the same time as the bride! Problem resolved but only after calling for the Manager. I was offered a late check out at no extra cost instead! I was there as part of a family booked block reservation for a wedding 10 minutes down the road. This hotel is like a rabbit warren, stairs, stairs and more stairs. I noticed that there was a disabled entrance! There are some nice rooms with spectacular views! Mine was "recently upgraded" but still had a rather tired feel to it!
There is a spa but I cannot comment as although I had my swimming costume with me I Was somewhat put off by the chlorine smell!
Nice place
TRAVELLERS0409on 07/08/2017 22:27Looks a pretty impressive place,nice reception,friendly helpful staff.
Our room was the other side of building but if a walk (we were offered assistance) up stairs (2 flights) room was a little on the small side but clean and adequate, nice bathroom.
Enjoyed the bar and restaurant, really nice food and excellent service, the place was busier than we expected due to there being a wedding on at the venue we hadn't been told about, wasn't a massive inconvenience but it was the busiest breakfast morning I've been to.
OK - but . . . . . .
Gordon Son 07/08/2017 17:52This hotel must be one of the most difficult to get to anywhere in England! And once you get here it looks great - but its a bit faded and the rooms in the courtyard leave a lot to be desired. The food was acceptable, although we were told the restaurant would close at 9pm - we were late arriving due to problems on the M5 - so we hurried to get down before it closed. Imagine our amazement when it allowed two further parties to eat long after the 9 pm closing time!
Mixed feelings
Karon Bon 07/08/2017 16:20Stayed here overnight while visiting friends and family. Booked it because it has ' a pool and spa'.
The hotel looks tired in places but updated in others. The staff were very helpful, when they could understand what I was asking for. The room was small but clean and well equipped. Had a good nights sleep, although I wear ear plugs so don't know how noisy it gets lol. Food was lovely and well presented both the bar meal on Sunday evening and breakfast the following morning which was buffet but there were lots of options.
As for the pool and spa area............... It feels like they had a space so put some gym and spa equipment in!! The pool was clean, the gym equipment up to date but the flow just doesn't work. You have to go through the reception and gym in your swimwear to get from the pool to the sauna, steam room and changing rooms. With a little re organisation it could be a good space but isn't very functional at the moment.
I would probably go back but with less enthusiasm for a relaxing spa experience.
