Great location and friendly service

I have seen many not so happy guests telling about problems,,,but I must say I was very happy with my staying several days,,, Yes, I missed the cold minibar and I think the hotel should place a ice-cube automat in every floor at the elevator. Also the internet must be better than a 5 hours ticket-system,,,, But it did work very well in my room,,, My room also had a good working air condition and it was possible to open the window for changing the air,,, The bathroom was very new, clean and had all you needed. Service from the stuff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant gives tasty and good food and the breakfast was fine with coffee-termos on each table. Easy and safe parking outside the hotel.

Stay away. Horrible service. The worst value for your money I have ever encountered.

We reserved this hotel since it is close to the A9 Highway near Bayeruth, Germany.

We reserved a double bed that included free internet access .

The double bed were two twin beds that were NEAR each other. (In fact both had their own separate bedding.) When I pointed out that this is not a double bed, i got just a shrug as a response.

Internet is a disaster, an email takes forever to download. When I politely complained, the response was that there are many guests in the hotel. (I saw only one guest at the lobby and none in the restaurant.)
The TV is rigged so volume is so low you must stand right in front of the set to be able to hear anything.
And worst of all the window view is totally blocked by renovations being carried out.

So-so air on, diabolical internet

We have used this hotel in Bayreuth on at least 10 occasions when we have had tickets for the Bayreuth Festival - it used to be the only hotel close to or in Bayreuth with any airconditioning. This year when we arrived I was told that I had booked two rooms with no airconditioning - after some debate my husband and I were moved to a suite for the first night - bizarrely this only had AirCon in the lounge but not in the bedroom. Our kids boiled in their room. For the next 3 nights we all moved into standard rooms with airconditioning - this at least seemed to work. The rooms are a ridiculous price but during the festival there are not enough rooms in Bayreuth to meet demand so it is definitely a sellers market. The prices are better "out of season". Breakfast is okay - they do a fantastic Bircher Muesli - well worth taking the free recipe away. This year they had decided to switch off all the minibars in the rooms on environmental grounds - if you wanted a drink in your room you were forced to use the vending machine in the lobby - more like a 2 star motel experience than a 4 star hotel - probably symptomatic of the German mania for green innovations as this was not the only hotel on our trip with the same issue.
On check in we were told that the Internet had been upgraded. Unfortunately this still meant having to collect a log in ticket from Reception which only lasted a maximum of 5 hours. Our children were having to make repeated trips to get new tickets. Coverage for WiFi was so poor that moving around the bedroom could result in instant disconnection. Again we would expect something more reliable than this - the WiFi in this hotel has been a weakness for years. On previous trips we would have to move our laptop to the bedroom door to get a connection.

No aircon in smoking room and internet (duration) issues

The smoking room booked had no aircon - and this was not announced - so due to warm weather, the window had to be open - and the nearby motorway is very noisy. The duration of the internet is 5 hours so you had to go down to the reception in the morning to collect a new one.

Typical Best Western Hotel

Just stayed here for one night while traveling from north to south. It's a typical Best Western Hotel - means basically ok but a little bit runned down. Somehow this chain does not like to invest a lot of money in refurbishment. But the staff is extremely friendly and also the food in the hotel restaurant is very good. There is even a small outside area for eating. But this side of the hotel is a bit noisy as this is facing to the highway. Also for the rooms I would ask for a room on the backside for the same reason.
