What People are saying

Brilliant

Lovely hotel with very friendly staff. The restaurant had a great choice & delicious food. The location is perfect for a trip to snowdon. I will definitely be returning in the near future. Great walks too

Good location

Myself and 3 friends have just returned from the Waterloo hotel, the staff were very helpful we needed a very early breakfast as we were climbing Snowdon early so they arranged for continental breakfast to be ready for 5.45am so we could get some breakfast to go. We stayed in a lodge type room nice comfy bed and the bathroom was modern power shower was nice. We used the spa facilities which was great after our climb to be able to use the sauna and hot tub. The breakfast on our 2nd day was everything from fruit yoghurt pastries full English cereals plus there was salmon and omlettes made to order. The restaurant in the evening wasn't quite as good as the breakfast but certainly nothing to complain about. Overall I'd definitely choose this hotel should I be climbing snowdon again in the future

Great Location for adventurous visit to Snowdonia

We booked this Hotel because of its central position and stayed for 4 nights as a family of 5. Whilst there we did the Forest Coaster, Titan zip wire, Velocity and walked up Snowdon. All are really easily accessible from this very comfortable Hotel.

The pool was a delight to come back to in the late afternoons. Our room was very clean and spacious enough for 3 adults and 2 girls. Breakfast were delicious too!

Staff were very friendly and we would certainly recommend this Hotel. In fact we have booked it again.

Average Hotel

Stayed for a few days last week and whilst there were some positives, I certainly wouldn't rush back.
We booked this place largely due to the pool, and this was a nice facility which we used every day, but it looked a bit tired and tatty in places e.g. Rotting wooden window frames in the changing rooms, broken tiles in showers, dirty floors etc
Our 'deluxe lodge suite' was a disappointment for the price we paid (over £150 per night). It was very dark, and smelt of damp. There were 2 'rooms'- one with a sofa bed and the other a double bed, but they both felt very cramped and very little natural light was able to get in. It did look like the room had been refurbished recently but it was the small size and dark feel of the room that took away any sense of 'deluxe'. By comparison I'd say there is more overall floor space in a std premier inn room. The bathroom was also very poky and the shower fitting whilst working ok, was wobbly and needed looking at.
My son had an allergic reaction on his skin from the bar of soap on the first night which he's never had from any toiletries before, so anyone with sensitive skin beware of that. Obviously I wouldn't hold that against the hotel! Just a word of warning 😄
One last thing on the room, which didn't really bother us too much but I imagine it would others; there are nesting birds (swallows I think) right above the door to the lodge which meant a pile of bird poo on the doorstep everyday and down the front door. The cleaners did a good job of cleaning this up every day, but it would then reappear. Not a lot you can do about that really, there were chicks in the nest and you can't move it, but maybe a little explanation from reception prior to us going to the room would have been nice?
The breakfast we found ok, food was as you would expect but very average in quality and not a huge amount of it. Fruit offerings were meagre and toast toppings such as marmalade and jam were in a shared dish you had to take a spoon of rather than individual sachets/portions. This is something I have only ever encountered in a work canteen before, not a hotel!
We ate dinner in the restaurant on one evening which again was ok but expensive for what it was. Wish I'd heeded the previous reviewer's tip on eating the meringues. Grainy and powdery.
Staff were a bit hit and miss. Some were very friendly and others not at all.
All in all, it was ok, but for the price I expected a bit better.

Superb Hotel

We booked one of the lodges at the Hotel , We had our own car park space outside the lodge inside the room was spotless and very spacious it also had French windows on to a decking area with table and chairs , The Facilities were outstanding from the comfy lounge bar to the restaurant and onto the leisure side of the Hotel , The staff was helpful and welcoming , Ideal for touring North Wales would recommend The Waterloo and will certainly be going back....
