Fantastic
Gillpaulm1on 08/08/2017 00:22Myself and my sister in law stayed for one night with our children. We had adjoining rooms which made it easier for the cousins to play . The rooms were immaculate and to a very high standard . The facilities in the hotel were great for the kids - a pool In the hotel and a play park round the corner meant they had lots to do .
The food at dinner and breakfast lovely with a great choice . However the best thing about the hotel is the staff ... Sylvia at reception was brilliant, she really helped us get the best deal and also made us all feel very welcome when we checked in .
The staff in the restaurant were also brilliant. In particular Jodie and Billy were great with the kids and couldn't do enough for us .
I can't recommend this hotel highly enough.
Stayed for 2 weeks Great area 5 mins walk from Broughty Ferry
David Bon 07/08/2017 21:05Good Hotel with good onsite facilities. The gym, pool sauna are all welcome after a days work. Certain parts of hotel can become rowdy at weekends due to weddings and functions. The food is not great portions small and same menu everyday. Only the specials would change sometimes. The best meal was breakfast. The bacon could be doing with being cooked properly otherwise the rest including omletes were nice. One other small complaint was that when rooms were being replenished no biscuits or cookies were ever replaced.
Area is very nice and only 5 minutes walk from the town and beach.
Nice hotel
sfc05on 07/08/2017 12:04If you get a top floor room remember to ask for help carrying the luggage as steps are too steep and if you're carrying heavy loads it's complicated!
Nice hotel apart from that. Restaurant staff a bit rough, not extremely friendly to put it that way, but otherwise front desk staff really helpful, nice and professional (Sylvia).
The swimming pool (leisure area as they call it, including sauna and gym) is great, free access and a nice swim after a long day hiking is just a bit of heaven on earth...
Free parking, nice buffet breakfast...
I wouldn't hesitate in booking again at the Woodlands if I ever stop at Dundee again.
Good hotel
MattSton 05/08/2017 10:48This is a perfectly good hotel, standard class for a best western. Located a bit away from anything else. Very quiet and peaceful. All staff were very kind and friendly, we were offered an upgrade on check in as we joined the Best Western loyalty scheme: the room (new wing) was very good, beds comfortable, top notch shower, tea and coffee facilities, good wifi. Breakfast buffet was normal, though nothing special. Shame there were no kippers as Arbroath is so nearby! Overall very good value. If you want a quiet room with step free access then 205 is recommended. Note - room swipe cards are the old type that demagnetise easily if you put them near a phone or ipad!
