A mixed bag

2 rooms booked for Friday night, arrived at 8.45 and check in was swift if a little impersonal. Enquired when food orders were ceasing in bar and/or restaurant, advised 9.15 - went up to rooms, dropped bags, quick freshen up then down to bar: my wife and kids were there first, bar member was sarcastic & dismissive advising food stopped at 9.00 - strangely changed his tune when I arrived and went to speak to him/order...

Bar food was good however serving Crisps/potato chips with burgers and then adding surcharge for fries seems strange, never had burger and crisps before....

Fire alarm at 01.30am was worrying, no apology/explanation in the morning ...

Hotel rooms are well appointed, great shower, clean and good size (fire alarm aside we slept well!!).

Not to pleasant was housekeeping knocking on door at 8.30 and then walking straight in without waiting catching us undressed, repeated the same process a few doors down on my daughters room - obviously habit but unnecessary for a Saturday I opine.

Breakfast was good, plentiful, even found Gluten Free bread for my wife without quibble, let down sadly by the coffee - uugghhh.

Did mention the bar members attitude plus housekeeping at check out, admittedly did not check out the electronic door sign when we went to bed however the complaint still stood: too early, too quick to enter. Have subsequently heard from front of house with an upgrade offer etc, so definitely attentive to complaint however unsure if then' one back and spend more, see if we've improved' approach will wash with my wife ! Great location, some great people, just a mixed bag sadly.

Almost good, shame about the lack of TV signal

The hotel was pleasant enough and the staff were friendly however, not being able to get a tv signal to the advertised 40 inch flat screen t.v. was a deal breaker for me.
Lack of a fridge or even a bottle opener in the standard room was disappointing for a Best Western, first time that has been the case in many years stays.

Wedding Bells!!

We attended our son's wedding at the Donnington Manor Hotel this weekend. The whole occasion was fabulous and my son and his new wife said 'it's everything we wanted'.

Initially, following the booking months ago we had concerns as we were made aware by the Manager Rhudra that there had been 'Staff changes'. However, Staff at the weekend pulled out all stops to ensure that the occasion was memorable in every way. Rooms were available earlier for guests. The rooms were clean, modern, comfortable and well equipped.

The room for the wedding was spacious and transformed by Staff from, Marriage ceremony to Wedding breakfast to Dance floor celebrations and buffet for the evening!!! A lot of hard work by Staff but superbly transformed at each stage!!! Food was excellent particularly the lamb and lobster tails.

Evening bar Staff for the reception were professional, polite and as requested, kept us informed of the bar tariff. Prices were reasonable. Rhudra the manager remained discreetly present throughout the occasion and ensured that the celebrations met our requirements.

If there is a negative, the first morning of our two night stay, breakfast Staff were not particularly cheery. A 'good morning, how are you?' would have been the expected greeting instead of a dour 'Room number'. This I expect is a blip and training issue. However, the morning after the wedding we were greated by a cheery Karen who welcomed us to breakfast and service was excellent.

An excellent family and friends celebration catering for all ages small, large, young and those of us not so young. Heartfelt thanks to all Staff.

Beautiful place

We stayed here for a wedding midweek, and must admit, I'm fussy but I couldn't find fault here at all. Beds were the best I've ever slept in, spotless, modern, shower wonderful, complimentary bathroom supplies luxurious, breakfast hit and plentiful, service fantastic. Only gripe, is that checkout time was 11am, but the cleaners hovering and knocking well before this , other than that, a wonderful place that I would strongly recommend

I stayed there for one night with a group of friends. The room was excellent. It was clean and tidy with everything you would need. It had tea & coffee making facility. Good toiletries and a walk in shower, with flat screen tv. It also had air conditioning. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

We had dinner in the restaurant. The menu is a bit limited. We were a group of 8, which did not help when it came to choosing the wine as they had a very limited supply of the wines on the list.

We all agreed that it was good value and we would come again.
