Highly Recommended Hotel
on 03/08/2017 14:52We stayed here because my daughter was participating in a tournament nearby. I must say that the quality of the service is topnotch! We are thinking of coming back again for a holiday in the future! Highly recommended!
Poor service
hvid76on 22/07/2017 12:55A nice location in the forest but hotel is very noisy and service isn't great. Landry service took me three days and every morning I woke up with noise outside my window and with doors closing. Ordinary hotel.
stunning surroundings but outdated
Louise eon 20/07/2017 15:43like a lot of people have said, this place is dated but don't let that stop you from booking this little gem! the rooms are very big as are the bathrooms with suitable facilities in the rooms. nice and clean, no issues at all. the bar area is lovely and theres some seating outside to enjoy your beer after a long day of cycling on the hired bikes. the pool/sauna/steam was really well maintained and not bust at all - definitely spend some time relaxing here! the breakfast was amazing, must try the scrambled eggs with salmon - yum! staff were friendly. and if you want to visit Arnhem for a few late ones (very recommended!) then you can easily and cheaply order a taxi from reception. I would definitely go back!
Beautiful location
AllisonL65on 10/07/2017 19:29I loved the location, so peaceful and deep in the woods. We had a terrific dinner in the restaurant and an enjoyable breakfast as well. The room was very large with a seating area and good sized patio and while the room décor was a little bit older it wasn't an issue since everything was clean and comfortable. There was no air conditioning but with the window open the room was fine.
To the woods...
BlomSKIon 28/05/2017 18:10Booked this hotel via one of the discounted room sites as a ‘last minute’ break. Given the age of the hotel (think it was built in the late 70s?) expectations weren’t high but the location looked good.
The standards of the accommodation were a pleasant surprise! Yes, the exterior of the building was dated but well maintained. The rooms were excellent: large, clean, pleasant and comfortable. The bathroom was the biggest giveaway to the age of the hotel but the various refurbishments that must have been done over the years were well done and gave the room a pleasant feel.
The location was quite definitely the biggest plus to this hotel. Situated amongst the trees for miles around the location was relaxing and calming. Bicycles are available for hire from the hotel and they have a plentiful supply. Cycling through the miles and miles of forest tracks on well-maintained Dutch cycle lanes was the epitome of a tranquil break away from the hustle and bustle. The hotel also offers a decent sized swimming pool and, of course, there are lots of pleasant walks in the area.
Breakfast was included in the price and was very acceptable; standard continental fare with a small selection of scrambled eggs and bacon.
We also opted to eat dinner at the hotel; the kitchen provided reasonably well cooked meals. My only comment would be the choice of vegetables available seemed to be limited.
If I had any criticism then it would be about the level of service. We arrived just prior to lunch on our first day and opted to dine on the terrace as opposed to heading out again in search of food. Having found a table we waited and waited and waited… At dinner in the evening it was the same story. Two things struck me: 1) there didn’t seem to be anyone in charge, directing operations and keeping an overall eye on what was happening. 2) a shortage of restaurant/bar staff may be part of the problem. I was surprised to see how many of the same staff faces turned up at each service time and they did appear to be tired and lacking enthusiasm whereas there seemed to be an abundance of reception staff.
Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel as excellent value for money and a pleasant and tranquil break for either couples or families.
