What People are saying

Average older hotel

Bret Von 10/08/2017 18:42

The name sounds great, but the facilities are a bit tired and the vibe is very low key. It is a small island so the options are limited. Bang for your buck is on par with most places in this type of setting.
It is not luxury by any means and the service is average at best. There is a great view of the bull sharks swimming below you in the harbor while you have drinks or dinner.
Overall, for budget minded travelers, this is not a bad option.

My second review on this property upon revist

Tom Aon 02/08/2017 06:09

Since my last report on this property I have returned many times to Bimini, including this property and also other hotels on the island.

Since I cross from Florida to Bimini on my boat I want to provide my feedback based on that and what I hear from other boaters like me.

Those fortunate individuals that come to this wonderful island long before I did report a Bimini that has changed very much over the years. This hotel represents the "old Bimini" or what keeps on having them come back. This part of the island still represents the character of the island whereas the other side, i.e. the Resort World, is just an exported version of Miami. It is super cool to walk close to the resort and experience the limited experience such a small island can present. To walk into local bars is quite different to the experience one can have in the modern and luxurious part of the island that is part of Resort World and Hilton. The resort itself just feels like a bunch of people hanging out and having a good time on a remote island. There is an island feel to it that just cannot be replicated in the more touristic location.

For boaters themselves it remains the top choice with the custom office on site and immigrations (a small police station) down the street.

The marina is top notch alongside the dock master who is always there to assist.

The rooms are comfortable, not luxurious, but very nice. The overall feel of the resort is one of family and just feeling at home on an island.

Poor condition.

Came over on small boat with family from Florida. Was looking forward to a nice shower and and a clean room. Instead - room smelled like mold and plumbing barely worked. HVAC couldn't keep up so room never cooled down. Advertised included Wi-Fi didn't work. Hotel staff didn't seem to care. Maybe it's getting ready to close down and they are losing their jobs? Restaurant at hotel was acceptable. Lots of bugs in room. Even found a pile of dried up what looked like bug wings on floor in room. The island and hotel are infested with tiny biting bugs. I've stayed at a lot of off the beaten path fishing lodges and never experienced something in such disrepair. Was not expecting plush, just clean and with working plumbing for 250+ a night. Place needs to be shut down fumigated and a complete reno. I don't think this hotel would not pass a basic hotel inspection in the US. I really expected more for the price.

Basic Laid Back Getaway

Elizabeth Won 13/07/2017 04:56

Good basic hotel for laid back boaters, family and/or friends with great views, and a fun and friendly marina where you can hang out and look at some beautiful boats, or watch the local sharks (some boaters feed them!) and other marine life. The hotel is old, a bit overpriced but well maintained. Our room was clean and spacious with a balcony with a pool view and comfy lounge chairs, and good a/c (floor is bare concrete). A coffee machine, hair dryer, iron/ironing board etc. were available in the room and housekeeping did a good job cleaning and providing clean towels. The hotel has a decent size pool, game area, and a good restaurant/bar (expect super slow service) with a pretty view. You can rent a golf cart or catch a cab right outside the grounds and go to the casino, or walk to the beach and local restaurants and bars. If you're looking for a fancy place, this is not for you - go to Resorts World.

Another World

Friendly and welcoming, with all the basic needs like ice cold drinks and a gorgeous view. You will feel comfortable in another place and time! Even on a holiday weekend, the casual calm make the Big Game Club a quiet refuge from civilization.
